Technology Preparation for Summer Break
Preparation for Summer Break
Desktops, Laptops, iPads, Tablets, Copiers and Printers
1. Desktops
a. that won’t be used over the summer must be disconnected from power. Don’t disconnect other cables for example; mouse, video, speaker, and network.
b. can be covered with a cloth cover. Do not use plastic covers because they trap in moisture.
2. Laptops
a. along with power adapters that won’t be used over the summer must be disconnected from power and placed in a locked closet, cabinet or storeroom.
b. that belong on a cart must be returned to the cart because they might be reimaged or replaced over the summer.
c. assigned to Teachers may be taken home for the summer.
3. iPads and Tablets along with power adapters that won’t be used over the summer must be disconnected from power and placed in a locked closet, cabinet or storeroom.
4. Copiers and Printers that won’t be used over the summer must be disconnected from power.
5. If you have a computer problem, tape an Equipment Tag (see attachment) to it and create a ticket in HelpDesk.
6. Delete files and emails that you don’t need.
7. All software should be placed in a secure area.
Classroom Technology Equipment
1. All projectors (that are plugged into the wall), dual boards, RedCat audio enhancement systems, microphone chargers, Mobi’s, and document cameras that will not be used over the summer should be disconnected from power.
2. Dual board pens, projector remotes, RedCat audio enhancement systems, microphones, microphone chargers, Mobi’s, Mobi receivers and pens, document cameras, responders, and responder receivers should be stored in a locked closet, cabinet or storeroom.
3. If you find extra power adapters, cables, USB devices, mobi pens, board pens, or receivers put them into an envelope and send it to the Help Desk at ESC.
4. Removing the batteries from the responders has not been a SCCSD protocol, but the manufacturer does recommend it to prevent corrosion.
Teacher Moves, Retirements, and Resignations
1. If you are a teacher and you are moving to a different classroom or building . . .
a. take your laptop and power adapter with you
b. you can’t take student computers or any classroom equipment (audio enhancement systems, microphone chargers, Mobi’s, document cameras, and responders) to your new classroom. In fact it would be helpful if you would find all of your equipment, cords, receivers, etc. and put them in a box for the new teacher.
c. ask the Librarian at the new building to change the location of your laptop in the inventory system.
d. create a HelpDesk ticket to change the name of your laptop if you move to a new building.
2. If you are a teacher and you are leaving the district put your name and building onto two tags and tape a tag onto your laptop and a tag onto your power adapter. On your last day turn in your laptop and power adapter to the Registrar.
Phones
1. Staff that move to a different room within a building should take their phone with them. Their extension stays the same.
2. Staff that move to a different building must leave their phone in the classroom. They will receive the extension of the person he/she is replacing.
Close Reading - Invite Admin in for Observations
This researched-based strategy is effective in all content areas. For the rest of this year, each teacher should invite an administrator in to watch a Close Reading lesson. We are collecting walk-through data around this strategy 6-12 across the District.
When you implement this strategy please send an invitation to April and/or your evaluator. All teachers should send an invitation at least two times before the end of the year.
If you need more support in implementing this strategy, please reach out to Kristen or Tyson.
