7th Grade ACTS Newsletter

September 22-26, 2014

Science - Mrs. Sexton

Students will have a Warm Up quiz on Tuesday and the test of Biotic Factors Wednesday. After the test we will begin studying the Abiotic Factors of ecosystems. In this study, students will be looking at erosion, deposition, the zone of aeration, the zone of saturation, and many more interesting aspects of ecology.

We have started Study Island and students are adjusting well. If you have any questions or concerns about the program please contact me via email. I will be sending home an explanation of the program next week. Please sign the paper and have your child keep it in their science binder. THANKS!

Science - Mrs. Griffin

The students will continue working with ecology. Their focus will be energy flow and natural disasters

Math - Mrs. McDaniel

7th Grade Math - We will continue to work problems using the constant of proportionality and begin graphing information that varies directly. I hope to finish Chapter 2 next week and start preparing for our chapter test.

Math - Mr. Smith

7th grade math students are studying directly proportional relationships. We had a quiz on Friday and these will be graded and posted this weekend.

Students should plan on a Partner Test on Friday next week (September 26). Students will work with a partner on this joint assessment.

Dance - Mrs. Brewington

7th Rotation: We will begin a fitness unit, yoga, zumba, p90x, and pilates are all classes we will participate in. On September 29th, will have a test on Muscles and Bones.

7th dance focus: We learned about Tinkling and created small pieces of choreography using the steps we learned. Please complete a google form about Tinikling for a grade. There will be a dance vocabulary quiz September 26th. Please encourage your child to check for class updates daily on google classroom.

Social Studies - Mrs. Babb

Students will finish Standard 1on Exploration and Expansion and test at the end of the week. They will create foldables to help them organize and review for the sections covering expansion. They will complete a practice test during class on Thursday and we will correct errors at the end of the each period. We will also watch excerpts from a video about the Middle Passage throughout the week.

Mrs. Boatwright - Social Studies & ELA

Mrs. Boatwright's seventh grade Social Studies class will continue their study of the Scientific Revolution. They are working on a project - Scientific Revolution Baseball Cards. This project is due Thursday, September 25

Mrs. Boatwright's seventh grade English Language Arts class will be working on stem word list 4. The test on this list is Friday, September 26. They have been reading "Three Skeleton Key." There will be a test on this story on Wednesday, September 25. They will also be continuing their work on narrative writing.

ELA - Mrs. Templeton

The students will finish reading their fiction novels this week and have a in class project on Friday. We are working on vocabulary 5 and will have a test on Thursday. We will finish with our personal narrative this week.
