In anticipation of Lesson 20 in our Journey's curriculum -"Sacagawea and Lewis and Clark," the students in ELA spent a week learning about culture.
In defining the word culture, we learned that culture is both visible and invisible. Culture is also traditions that can be passed down
from one family member to the next, and can be both verbal and non-verbal.
Below are some snapshots of their presentations in class from "their culture" and a finally, a 4th grade "Quilt of Culture" and the students' reflections of the activity
Kestrel Charter School, as all the students found out is chock full of a variety and multitude of invisible cultures.

This week in Elementary music, students are in the process of improvising with a blues scale while playing mallet instruments and recorders.
