Congratulations to the following 13 9th graders for earning their Greenhand FFA Degree. These students had to have sufficient plans for an SAE Project (project that relates to agriculture outside of class time). They also had to memorize and recite the FFA Creed, demonstrate knowledge of FFA History and parliamentary procedure. Congrats to all our recipients!

This past weekend, 15 SFJHS 9th grade drama students attended Drama Con at UVU. We had so much fun attending workshops, a show, and hanging out with friends. Our own Miss Holley received a special award from the Utah Theatre Association for "dedicated service to Theatre Education in Utah."

Hi Math Lobo’s and Families,

Spanish Fork Junior High can bring 10 8th graders to compete at an official MATHCOUNTS competition at BYU on Feb. 5th. Here is a tentative breakdown of the schedule.

· 8:00 - 8:30 Registration – in the Wilkinson Student Center

· 8:30 – 9:30 Sprint Round

· 9:40 – 10:20 Target Round

· 10:30 – 11:00 Team Round

· 11:00 – 12:00 Lunch / Finish Grading

· 12:00 – 1:00 Countdown and Awards – Families welcome

We need to send in our names by Thursday January 26th. Please reach out to Ms. Whiteside

(charlotte.whiteside@nebo.edu) or attend math club in room 8 on Thursday right after school to let us know if you would like to compete. This is a great opportunity for students to engage in mathematics and get some competition experience. In previous years, students were given swag bags, including a BYU t-shirt, and light refreshments at the beginning and then a bag lunch. It was a lot of fun. I highly recommend joining us.

Students will need to provide their own ride to the event. However, Ms. Whiteside will be at the competition to coach, supervise, and cheer on the teams. She will wait with each student until their ride arrives.

We are super excited to be able to provide this opportunity for our students. Let us know if you would like to attend!

College and Career Night

9th grade students and parents are invited to attend College and Career Night on Wednesday, February 1 at 5:30 pm at Spanish Fork High School. Choose from a variety of different break out sessions to help you with your college and career planning. UVU Concurrent Enrollment, MTech, Gear Up, SFHS Counseling, the Advanced Learning Center, and Success in Education will all be here to share valuable information with you. If you're serious about maximizing your college and career opportunities, this is an event you don't want to miss!

Each year the women tech council sponsor’s a big event up at the Sandy Expo Center, called SHETECH. This event is specifically for 9th -12th grade girls. Spanish Fork Junior High has reserved a bus and can bring about 50 girls to the event. If you would like more information, check out the website at shetechexplorer.com.

If you would like to spend the day, Feb. 28th , on a STEM fieldtrip, ask your math teacher for a fieldtrip permission slip. We will leave around 9 am and stay for most of the day. Lunch will be provided, let us know if you have specific dietary requests. Then we will ride the bus back and be back in time for the end of the school day.
