Park Terrace Elementary
June 1, 2022 Newsletter
Greetings, Park Terrace Elementary!
I hope everyone had a restful Memorial Day weekend! It is so hard to believe that we are so close to the end of the school year already! The days, weeks, months and trimesters have truly just flown by.
As we begin to wrap up the year, please ensure students are ready to go each day for school so they can do their best on these final days. Although this is absolutely a fun time, it is also a time for students to demonstrate all of the learning they have done this year!
Report cards will once again be posted online to Campus Parent Portal. They will be available to view on Friday June 17th at 12pm. As a reminder, report cards are just one of the many ways teachers report on student learning throughout the year. Report card grades reflect student learning and teachers look at evidence of learning over time to determine where students are at in their learning at the time of report cards.'
Grades for Park Terrace are as follows:
- MS: Minimal progress toward the standard
- AS: Approaching standard
- S: Met the standard
- ES: Exceeds the standard
If you are planning on moving schools over the summer, please be sure to let our office or our District Services Center know by calling 763-600-5000. Anyone who is not returning will need to turn in all student materials such as iPads and chargers and pay any outstanding library books fees. Thanks for your help with this.
I hope everyone has a great week! Let’s make these last couple of days at Park Terrace great together!
Sincerely,
Mona Perkins
Principal

Keep the learning going this summer
Summer provides opportunities for families to share in learning experiences together. We're offering some ideas to keep the learning going over the summer months. Your student's school-issued iPad can help support summer learning experiences. Have fun learning together with friends and family this summer!
- Ideas for reading and writing this summer: Look for books or articles that build on a family or child's interest or upcoming event. Set some time each day or week, find a special location, and read aloud with the whole family. Talk with your child about what is being wondered about and learned in the reading. Each family member might keep a journal or write letters to others to keep and share experiences.
- Where to find reading materials for children: Visit a public library to check out books or magazines including electronic books you can download and read on an iPad. MackinVia is Spring Lake Park School's digital library. Students can log in to the app on their school-issued iPad and check out a variety of electronic books. More information is available in the digital toolkit.
- Math at home: Our grade K-5 resource, Bridges in Mathematics, offers Math at Home. This is available to students on their school-issued iPad and includes ideas to engage students in deep mathematical thinking that also includes some reading, writing and speaking. Access is free.
