Winter Park High School Band Notes

Dear Winter Park Band Families:
Congratulations to The Sound of the Wildcats Marching Band on another terrific performance this past Friday night at Wekiva High School! The music-making continues to improve from week to week, and with nearly half of the show put on the field, they are in good shape going into the month of September! Many thanks to all of our parent and student volunteers for making everything run so smoothly on our first away performance! Make sure that everyone takes note that we WILL be in full uniform for this coming week's home Marching Band performance at Showalter Field. All uniform shoes are to have been ordered and received by this point.
The final deadline for Program Ads & Sponsors is this coming Tuesday, September 11. For more information about our biggest fundraiser of the school year, go to our Band website at http://www.winterparkhsband.com/band-boosters.html. Remember that students receive 50%-60% of all profits on this fundraiser!
All-State Band auditions are this coming Saturday at Ocoee High School. The schedule is now available on our website at http://www.winterparkhsband.com/honor-bands.html. Please remember that these are recorded auditions and the audition evaluators will not be able to "see the students." Because of this, students should dress comfortably, ready to perform.
This is the last week for our City Saver Book sales. All orders are due during the regular Band rehearsal period this coming Wednesday, September 12. We will have parent volunteers here during the day putting orders together to be picked-up later that afternoon, so please do not forget your orders! Also, be sure you have sold at least one book (your sample book)! Students receive $12.50 into their Band Account for each book sold.
Finally, the concert band attire side of MyBandStuff.com is up and ready to receive orders! Thank you to everyone for being patient while Ictus Limited did some updating of this ordering site. The ordering instructions can be found on our Band website at http://www.winterparkhsband.com/forms.html, and students who were measured for a tuxedo will be receiving "tuxedo shirt measurement" sheets during rehearsal on Monday. Please note the deadline of Sunday, September 28. Please take care of ordering this week so that the deadline is not missed!

CASES OF WATER - WE STILL NEED WATER!
We are looking for each family to bring in 2 cases of water in the next week.
GRADE 9: 1 case of large bottles (16.9 oz) and 1 case of small bottles (8 oz).
GRADE 10-12: 2 cases of large bottles (16.9 oz).
Water can be dropped off in the Band Room anytime during the week. Try to use a permanent marker to put the student's name on the cases. Thank you to everyone who donated sometime last week!
2ND ANNUAL MATTRESS SALE FUNDRAISER
The Winter Park Bands will be hosting their 2nd annual Mattress Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, September 29 in the East Cafeteria! This is a great way for students to earn credit into their Band account, and there is a Facebook event page found at https://www.facebook.com/events/229907844517176/. Please share this event on your own Facebook page, and encourage others that you know (even if they are not part of the WP Band Program) to share as well!
We will have our kick-off meeting for parents/students on Tuesday, August 21 at 5:00 PM in the Band Room. This meeting will last 30 minutes or less, and Custom Fundraising Solutions will be donating $5 to the Band Program (and ultimately into student accounts) for each parent in attendance!
