A Quick Word About Check-Ins/Zoom Meetings
These were positive and encouraging! I intend to do it again this coming week. Stay tuned for a link in your email and in TEAMS for these digital meet-ups and please login in and join us.
**THIS IS AN IMPORTANT opportunity for us to continue collaborating and getting some PL credit while we are out. It is not only helpful to each of you to collaborate with peers, it is positive to have a chance to chat about those things which are not working or those frustrating moments because you are ALL experiencing the exact same things right now.
- In the past, you may have had different experiences based on school population, location, expectations, etc. and while that is still true to an extent, THIS EVENT has the ability to unify us like never before. Let's capitalize on that and grow together from this experience!
All you have to do is go to the link that I provide and login with the login info I also provide. It is REALLY simple. Plan to do a camera share if possible as seeing one another is part of the point.
JOIN THE CHATS!
Officially School Closed Until Monday, April 13
Anyway, Spring Break is Spring Break and NOT Digital Learning Week - HOWEVER, PLEASE stay home and don't go do things!
Fine Arts Digital Learning Smore
As you all give me new things, ideas, links, I go into the SMORE and dump it in for you to be able to access in one location. I know a lot of things have been shared with you so hopefully this will help to keep it in one place.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED - TEAMS
If you do not know how to do that, please email me right now and let me know so I can get you plugged in.
**EVERYONE PLEASE RESPOND NOW JUST WITH A RESPONSE IN EMAIL AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE CLEAR FOR TEAMS. (Don't Reply ALL - Just Plain Ole REPLY)
Give yourself grace and extend it also to your students. Everyone is dealing with a hard thing right now
Grading Clarification
Please be sure and ask your principal if you have any questions about grading expectations and etc during this time.
Grace is a good word during this time. Remember that your students may or may not even have a device and/or they may have a singular device for their home that a whole house is sharing. Remember that there should be time to complete allowed and also remember that we are only in the first 7 days of this thing.
Resources for Fun - Spring Break Fun
- They are NOT engaging at all in the Canvas platform and you are not even sure if they are seeing it at all
- They are blowing through what you have planned (very particularly in elementary). Maybe this is because they love music/art and that is a positive outlet for them.
At any rate, whatever is happening in your area with regard to student engagement with this new online format, here is something I am suggesting:
I would like to create a SMORE for students to access fun things when they want a break from their other content that they can engage in WITHOUT using up your assignments too quickly and/or if they have already completed your assignments. Please take a look at this SMORE from Elementary Art for this very idea.
I am really thinking this would be positive all around but love to have something ready by Spring Break (since they cannot go anywhere anyway). They might be happy to keep having some fun fine arts opportunities.
- If you are willing to help contribute to this resource, shoot me an email and let's make a plan.
