UIL Awards Ceremony on February 12th

We will recognize all of the 2nd and 3rd grade UIL teams and coaches, as well as award medals to students who placed in their event on Wednesday, February 12th at 1:15 pm. If you are going to attend the ceremony, please arrive early enough to get your badge and leave your ID at the front office.

We can't wait to recognize all of the teams and coaches for their hard work this year in UIL!

Important Bus Safety Reminders

Please remember that is against the law to pass a school bus that is stopped with red lights flashing and side STOP sign arm extended, even in a parking lot. In the mornings if you drop your child off on Civic Drive, and are behind a bus, please do not pass the bus if the lights are flashing and STOP sign is extended.

Thank you for your help in keeping students safe.

What's Happening in Classrooms...

Second graders completed a monthly book report project over their favorite book. Check out some of the projects below. Next month the project will be creating a how-to...can't wait to see the finished products!

Big picture
Protecting the health and wellness of our students and staff requires a few extra precautions during the peak of flu season. We encourage all students and staff to:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a disposable tissue or your arm/sleeve; and
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
We also ask that parents and guardians monitor their children's health and keep them home if they have a fever, have had a fever within the last 24 hours, or may have an illness that could be contagious to others.

As a reminder, it is Lago Vista ISD policy that students with a fever of 100 degrees or greater must stay out of school and not participate in after-school activities until they are fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of fever-reducing medication. Furthermore, students with diarrhea or vomiting must also stay home until they are symptom free without symptom-suppressing medications for at least 24 hours.

Taking these steps will help minimize the exposure of illnesses like the flu and the possibility of spreading them to students and staff who are not sick. Thank you for helping us create the safest and healthiest learning environments for the students and staff of Lago Vista ISD!

Lost and Found

Cold weather is here, and we have a lot of jackets (among other items) in the Lost and Found. If your child is missing his/her jacket, or lunchbox, please have them stop by the Lost and Found bin located in the corner of the cafeteria. Please make sure you label jackets, lunchboxes, and backpacks with your child's name so we can reunite lost items with their owners.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families! I want to thank all of you whose children participated in our Great Kindness Challenge! I have received so many completed Acts of Kindness Checklists, and a lot of positive feedback from teachers and parents about this Project Vinátta activity! I am still working on filling out all of the Character Award certificates, so if your child turned in a checklist and has not yet received their award and gift certificate to Mighty Fine, don’t worry, it will be delivered to them or their teacher soon! I really appreciate everyone’s support with this school-wide kindness initiative!

The character trait we are learning about during our guidance lessons in February is Fairness. Fairness means practicing justice, equity, and equality, cooperating with one another, and recognizing the uniqueness and value of each other. Students will be understanding ways to show fairness by playing by the rules, taking turns, sharing, being open-minded, not blaming others, and treating all people fairly.

“Live so that when your children think of fairness, caring, and integrity, they think of you.”~H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

~H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
