Message from Principal Da Costa

Can you believe the first quarter is over?! Not to brag, but this first quarter of the school year has been not only the best in my time as Principal, but also the best during my time in education! Over these first ten weeks of the 2022-2023 school year we have made it a priority to offer ways for our students to be connected to school. Looking to return to a sense of normalcy post pandemic, our staff has gone above and beyond to ensure joy is infused during and outside the school day. Huge shout out to each member of my team here, who always puts students first and is positive and flexible to ensure the students enjoy their middle school years.

Our academic performance continues to be at top of the District levels, and students are engaging in rigorous academics in each of our classrooms! On Friday I had to call a student down to the office to help him with some tech issues he was having, and upon asking him, a 7th grade student, how he was liking middle school, his response made my heart glow. "Mr. Da Costa, I am living my best life! I have made so many new friends and I love all of my teachers! They each make sure I learn at high levels, but they also make learning fun. I am so happy to go to school here!"

This weekend, while on the sidelines of my son Lucas' PAFA football game in Naperville, a parent making small talk remarked, "being a Principal has to be hard! I don't know how you do it!" My response? "Leading my school fills me with such joy. I know that every single day I am fulfilling a mission, while also learning so much from the students, who are significantly better humans than I was at their age. I am incredibly proud to be their Principal."
