SAMR in 120 Seconds
What is SAMR?
SAMR is a great framework for thinking about
technology and how it can best be used in a
teaching environment to bring about
transformational learning opportunities that
wouldn't have been possible without the
technology.
AirPlay
AirPlay is a technology that Apple baked into their more recent devices to allow them to wirelessly mirror the content of one screen to another. This content can be music, movies, or other multimedia content.
Why? Teachers use AirPlay to wirelessly present lessons to a class.
AirDrop
AirDrop is a feature that lets Macs and iOS devices share files wirelessly with a minimum of fuss.
Why? Ease of sending assignments, homework and notes to the teacher or other students without using email.
- Launch Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of your iPad.
- Make sure both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are active.
- Tap AirDrop.
- Tap Everyone to enable others to AirDrop to you and to allow you to AirDrop to others.
Pinning Websites to your Home Screen
Why? To find your favorite websites easier.
- Go to the website you want to save to the home screen in the Safari browser. (https://www.sagemont.com)
- Tap the Share button. This is the button immediately to the right of the address bar on the top of your screen. It looks like a box with an arrow coming out of it.
- You should see "Add to Home Screen" in the second row of buttons. It has a big plus sign in the middle of the button and is right next to the "Add to Reading List" button.
- After you tap the Add to Home Screen button, a window will appear with the name of the website, the web address and an icon for the website. You shouldn't need to change anything, but if you want to give the website a new name, you can tap on the name field and enter anything you want.
- Tap the Add button in the top-right corner of the window to complete the task. Once you tap the button, Safari will close and you will see an icon for the website on your home screen.
Camera App
The camera app can be used to share evidence of formative assessment.
- Take pictures
- Use screenshots
- Record in the app
- Markup to make notes
Gestures on the iPad

- One finger swipe down to get your "news"
- Access SIRI by pressing down the home button
- Five fingers closing will take you back to the home screen

- Splitting the keyboard using both thumbs
- Tap the screen with three fingers to enlarge. Repeat to get back to screen.
