Palms Field Day 2022
Thursday, June 2
Raindate - Friday, June 3
Young 5's, Kindergarten, & 1st Grade - 9:15-11:30am
2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, & 5th Grade - 12:30-3:15pm
Things to know about Field Day:
- Parents will be able to come and watch their students participate.
- Regular lunches will be held on Field Day.
- Parents will not be able to come in to the building during the day or during lunchtime.
- Restrooms will be available outside.
- Students not allowed to wear shoes with cleats.
- Students need to bring a labeled water bottle with them.
- Please apply sunscreen and bug spray, if needed, before school in the morning.
- Dress appropriately for the weather. Also, dress code will be enforced.
April Student of the Month
Palms Student of the Month for each classroom is listed below.
At Palms Elementary, all of our students strive to be motivated learners,
as well as model citizens. Each month we will honor students from
each class who exemplify the following qualities:
Academic
Student prepares for classroom activities.
Student approaches learning with enthusiasm.
Student has made steady progress in the classroom.
Student has been working to his/her potential.
Student completes all assignments and homework.
Student has a good work ethic and is diligent.

Jacob Clark
Zoey Siebert
Zoey Siebert is Ms. Minano's kindergarten Student of the Month for April. Zoey is always prepared and ready to learn. She puts forth full effort in all that she does. She shows acts of kindness towards others and is a positive role model for her peers. Keep it up, Zoey!
Belle Jones
Belle Jones is Mrs. Schindler's kindergarten Student of the Month for April. Belle is a shining star student! She is always a role model to her friends for what a hardworking, and motivated student looks like. She consistently turns in her best quality work. She is so kind, and leads with a thoughtful and caring heart. She loves imaginative play, and I hope she always keeps her creative mind and kind heart! Way to go, Belle!
Evelyn Agle
Evelyn Agle is Mrs. Cabanilla's first grade Student of the Month for April. Evelyn comes to school with a smile on her face as she greets all she meets in the morning. She takes her time to do her best with each assignment. Evelyn makes positive contributions to classroom discussions and is ready to perform, has an answer when called upon, and can explain her thinking to help others understand. Way to go, Evelyn!
Jayce Casto
Jayce Casto is Ms. Reed's first grade Student of the Month for April. Jayce is a rockstar in the classroom. He always is ready to participate and he is always eager to learn new things. Jayce is an awesome friend. He always encourages his classmates and is a great partner. Jayce has grown so much as a learner this year because he works hard and doesn't ever give up. Keep up the great work, Jayce!
Hunter Ketelhut
Hunter Ketelhut is Mrs. Lowhorn's second grade Student of the Month for April. Hunter is a kind and polite boy. He follows our school rules of being ready, respectful and responsible. He works hard in class and you will usually find him with a smile on his face. Mrs. Lowhorn says, "I am happy to nominate Hunter for this award. Keep up the super job, Hunter. I am proud of you!"
Savannah St. Aubin
Savannah St. Aubin is Mrs. Visnaw's second grade Student of the Month for April. Savannah goes out of her way daily to help others within the classroom. I can always count on her to assist classmates with activities. Her enthusiasm for learning is contagious, too! Keep up the hard work, Savannah! You are definitely demonstrating polar bear pride:)
Avery Peyerk
Avery Peyerk is Mrs. Militello's third grade Student of the Month for April. Avery has made steady progress in 3rd grade. She completes all her homework and assignments in a timely manner. She participates in class discussions and activities and puts forth her best effort on assignments. Congratulations, Avery!
Aaliyah Walker
Aaliyah Walker is Mrs. Rowse's third grade Student of the Month for April. Aaliyah has been working hard and giving a lot of effort to improve in all areas of learning. She is also kind and respectful, and she comes to school with a positive attitude about learning. Keep up the good work, Aaliyah!
Madison Baker
Madison Baker is Mrs. Mychek's fourth grade Student of the Month for April. Madison is caring, patient, and helpful. She always thinks of others and acts and speaks with a kind heart. Madison puts forth her best effort in class and is considerate of others. She is an amazing teammate and group member because she is open to everyone's ideas and opinions. Congratulations, Madison...you make the Palms community proud!
Colton Markel
Colton Markel is Mrs. Versteegden's fifth grade Student of the Month for April. Colton is a hardworking, helpful, leader in and out of the classroom. Colton works hard on all of his school work and always tries his best on assignments and tests. He is also such a helpful person. He is always the first to assist another student or staff member. He is kind to others and is a good friend. Colton is a leader here at Palms. He is a safety and participates in class discussions. mrs. Versteegden says, "I am so proud of the young man that he is becoming and happy to have him in my classroom this year." Congratulations, Colton!

Palms Information
Dear Palms Families,
Greetings from Palms Elementary School! The entire staff offers you a warm welcome and looks forward to the opportunity of working with you and your child.
School Hours:
Building entrance bell will ring at 8:40 a.m. Classes will begin daily at 8:45 a.m. and dismiss at 3:39 p.m. Students should not arrive at school before 8:30 a.m. Latchkey is available to parents who need supervision for their children before this time. The Latchkey program is located here at Palms Elementary.
Arrival Procedures:
· When students are dropped off they are to line up outside the south entrance, door #1.
· Mrs. Woodhouse’s Young 5's students will line up outside the door to her room, door #2.
· When the bell rings at 8:40 a.m. the children will be allowed to enter the building. Please drop your child off by the main entrance doors.
Dismissal Procedures:
Every effort will be made to assist your child in getting on the right bus during the first few weeks of school. Any questions you may have concerning transportation should be directed to the bus garage by calling 676-1100.
The turn around on the west side of the building will be for buses and staff parking only. Visitor parking will be located in the parking area on the south side of the building. As a matter of safety, DO NOT park along the sidewalk. This is a Fire Lane. Out of consideration for others, when dropping off students, please pull to the front of the drop–off area and keep the line of traffic moving.
If you are picking your child up from school at dismissal time, grades Kdg-5 will be dismissed out of the doors by the office, door #1. Parents will stay outside of the building during this time. If parents are a few minutes late picking up, students will stay inside the building to wait. However, if your child does need to be released from school during the instructional day, please notify the office in writing. Students will be called to the office when you arrive and walked out to you at the door.
*****POLICY TO BE STRICTLY APPLIED*****
For the safety of your child and to avoid confusion, no child will be dismissed between 3:25pm and the 3:39pm bell dismissal. Please wait outside to greet your child after school as this will ensure a positive and safe dismissal for all children.
Please be sure to check your child’s backpack for notes and homework assignments on a daily basis. We are looking forward to a very productive and exciting school year. Additional information is available in the Student Handbook.
