A Message from Principal Boucher
SLPHS Families,
We are heading into fall break. As a reminder, there will be no school – in person or online for students – October 12-16. Please plan accordingly.
Fall Conferences
Fall conferences are normally scheduled around our fall break week. This fall, we are not able to provide in-person conferences, and we also know setting aside specific days and evenings does not meet the needs of each family.
If you haven’t already, please complete this brief Fall Conference and Communication form by Thursday, Oct 8 at 7 p.m. Let us know which of your student’s teachers you would like to connect with and the best way to connect with you. Teachers will be following up based on your preferences to schedule time to connect in the next few weeks and before Friday, October 30.
Monitoring COVID-19 in our community
We continue to monitor Anoka County 14-day COVID-19 case rates. Last week, in data we receive weekly from Minnesota Department of Health, Anoka County was reporting 20.78 cases per 10,000. This places our learning model firmly in the state’s guidance for Modified Campus (hybrid) at all grade levels (20-30 cases per 10,000).
We will continue to look to the future, closely monitoring case data and following guidance in the Minnesota Safe Learning Plan. We ask that our entire community continue to follow public health guidance to help support our schools in remaining open.
Fall Football, spirit week and more
Minnesota State High School League recently added football and volleyball back to the fall season. The first football game of this season is in Panther Stadium this Friday against Robbinsdale Armstrong. Please do not come to campus. Spectators for games are very limited - only families of our players. The game will be broadcast on cable TV.
Please see below for an update on watching football and other fall sports. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we work hard to support our student athletes in having a safe, productive and fun season.
Finally, Fall Spirit Week will be the week of October 26. Watch for more information after break. In the meantime, thank you for your partnership in these first four weeks of the school year. Together we build bright futures! Have a restful fall break.

Principal

October is College Knowledge Month
October is College Knowledge month at Spring Lake Park High School and throughout the state of Minnesota. This is a perfect time to help your seniors make plans for next year, get your juniors excited about learning what options they have for life after high school and encourage your sophomores and freshman to stay committed to their studies while getting a feel for what opportunities are available to them now and in the coming years.
Throughout the month of October, SLPHS will have various activities and help sessions to support students and families no matter where you are at in the process of planning for your future.
Upcoming call out event - there will be a live Senior Parent Webinar this Friday, October 9 at 2 p.m. This webinar session is to help parents prepare to send their student(s) off to college or other post-secondary options. A recording of this event will be available for viewing after the event if you are not able to make it to the live session.
Visit the new Career and College Planning hub to find more information about College Knowledge Month, find a calendar of upcoming college events and access to college planning resources. This hub will be your one-stop-shop for career and college information, resources and help throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
Watching fall athletic events – from your living room
The Minnesota State High School League recently made a change that brings football and volleyball seasons back to the Panther’s fall schedule. Spring Lake Park High School is now offering a full menu of fall sports for Spring Lake Park High School students.
While students are able to practice and compete, the Minnesota State High School League and Minnesota Department of Health are NOT allowing spectators at indoor sporting events and are allowing only limited attendance for outdoor sports. There is also NO tailgating or viewing parties allowed on campus. The focus is on providing a safe experience for our students and ongoing opportunities to participate in the sports they love.
The first home football game is Friday. Watching from home is encouraged. Read the full update.
