A Message from Fr. Woolley

Dear FJVD Community,

The Peace of Christ be with you. I’m writing you today to share with you the final results of last year’s 2018-19 First Annual Alumni Appeal, which we initiated last November.

Our first Annual Alumni Appeal was a great success, raising $40,885.00 from alumni and friends of Fr. John V. Doyle School (originally named SS. John & Paul School)! Attached is the list of those who donated to the appeal.

Proceeds from this past year’s Appeal have enabled us to accomplish the following projects for the school:

  • We installed a camera system in the school gym, to record basketball and other games for coaching purposes, with a potential to use the system for live streaming and instant replays in the future;

  • We installed an irrigation well and sprinkler system for the lawns in front of the school and gym, and for the flower beds in front of the school (the well has the potential to also irrigate the back field of the school in the future);

  • And best of all, because of last year’s successful Appeal, we were able to hire a music teacher, and bring back our in-school music program for Grades pre-K to 8 this new school year!

We also plan to use some of the remaining funds to enhance our new Robotics Club, which started up last winter, and also for a parent communication app that helps teachers and other faculty engage with parents about their students.

Thank you as well to our 2018-19 Appeal Committee: Robert McDermott, Chairman, Rev. John A. Kiley, Kathleen (Ball) Brusic, June MacDonald, Edward Emmott, Dennis Godin, Stephen Peretta, Elaine Gosciminski, Melissa Sangiuliano, and Lauren Sheldon; and also to Kathy Boiardi, Jen Marra, and Nicole Kelly, who greatly helped to get the appeal off the ground. I want to also take the opportunity to thank the many alumni, parents of alumni, and parishioners who continually contribute to the monthly school collection at Ss. John and Paul Parish.

Finally, thank you to everyone who prayed for the success of our first appeal; the Lord really blessed our efforts well beyond our expectations; let's pray that this coming year's Annual Alumni Appeal will be another great success for Father John V. Doyle School!

God bless,

Fr. Woolley
