The Zoo Came To Cooper
Thanks to funds raised during Cooper's Fall Walk-A-Thon, students were able to
celebrate Earth Day with two zookeepers from Wildlife Safari, a Michigan
company that brings the zoo to you! Mr. Nelson and Mr. Teron visited Cooper
this past Monday and Tuesday and brought along some very special guests -
some had fur, some had scales, some were venomous, but all were incredible in
their own way. Cooper students were engaged in an exciting, hands-on learning
experience that was the perfect combination of education and entertainment.
When Vixen (a female Red Fox), Mr. Chestnut (a groundhog), Dusty (a
chinchilla), and Elsa (a Siberian Lynx) were introduced, cries of "Awwww!" or
"Omigosh! How adorable!" could be heard. On the other hand, shrieks of
absolute terror rang out when Banana Split (a 12-foot-long, 140-pound Burmese
Python), Al Green (a 27-year-old American Alligator), and Drogan (an 8-year-old
Black Throat Monitor Lizard) were pulled out of their crates. Students were blown
away when Griffin, a 16-year-old Eagle Owl whose talons could pierce a car
door, flew from Mr. Nelson's arm back into its crate. Other animals students
learned about and were able to pet included a South American Armadillo and an
Emperor Scorpion too.
Both Mr. Nelson and Mr. Teron encouraged students to celebrate Earth Day not
just on Monday, but every day. Students were engaged in discussions about
being respectful to different animals and the environment too.
Thanks to everyone who contributed and participated in the Walk-A-Thon earlier
this school year. What an awesome and memorable experience for our students!

Restaurant Fundraiser
Hello Cooper Families!
The PTA is hosting a fundraiser starting this Sunday at Thomas’s Dining on Plymouth Road in Livonia, between Farmington and Stark. This will take place over five days.
Here are a few ways to help - they make it easy! A flyer will be coming home with your child this week.
* You can bring the flyer with you
* You can take a picture of it with your phone to show them
* You can show the restaurant this post on your phone
Any one of these options will work and you can go more than once. They are making it very easy to give back while enjoying some great food with family or friends.
This fundraiser starts this Sunday 4/28 at 3pm and ends Thursday 5/2 at 9pm.
Enjoy and thank you for your support!
