Edinburgh
Scotland
Climate
Edinburgh is in a nice area of Scotland. Very steady year round precipitation. About 2 inches average for each month. The temperature is quite nice as well. A fresh 55 degrees in June and it goes as low as 37 in the midst of January. The surrounding areas are very hilly and full of Lochs (Scottish word for lake) and the Atlantic Ocean, making it quite humid, an average of about 78%. The actual city, however, is relatively flat in comparison to the highlands that Scotland is best known for. The wind is roughly a nice 8 to 12 miles per hour most of the year. All in all, Edinburgh is pleasant place to live in.
Attractions In Edinburgh
One of the main attractions in the city is Edinburgh Castle. Another is the Saint Giles Cathedral. It is named after Saint Giles, the patron saint of beggars and cripples. It was built in 15th century, the crown being completed in 1495. There were restorations in the late 1800s and 1900s. Most of the stained glass windows are less than 100 years old. Yet another attraction is the Royal Yacht Britannia. Having once been the ship of the royal family, it is now a cruise ship and was actually built for the dual purpose of being a mobile hospital, if needed. The ship also does not bear her name on the outside, and it has been around for a little over 50 years.
