The Hungate Echo
Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Spring Term - Issue 7
A word from Mr Broom
It's been another busy week:
- Our Y5/6 girls competed in the inter-schools football championships on Thursday, finishing 2nd; a super achievement.
- On Tuesday, the whole school took part in our Mindfulness Day which was a huge success. The children and staff took time to learn and think about how our brains work to complete tasks. There was a focus on calmness and deep thinking and it was great to come away from the rigours of the curriculum if only for a short period.
- Martyn Sibley (STARMAT CEO) and Melissa Boyes (STARMAT CFO) visited our governors for their meeting on Wednesday evening. It was a great opportunity to share with them all the hard work we are doing behind the scenes to help Sherburn Hungate continue to thrive and, of course, grow.
Whatever you get up to over the coming week, stay safe, enjoy yourselves and we'll see you back in school on Monday 4th March.
Snaps from the week!

The Sherburn Hungate Garden Project - It's Competition Time
We're looking to our children to name this new garden and the Rotary Club are hosting a competition to do just that. If you'd like to get involved over the holidays, click on the terms and entry form files below. The the best of luck to all our competition entries.
School Attendance
It's important that children attend school regularly and at Sherburn Hungate we recognise that excellent attendance leads to excellent achievement. Fact!
Our attendance for this week is 94.4%, which is well short of our 96% target. Let's hope that next week we'll meet it together.
We know that there's lots of bugs around because we've had staff illness too. However, please help us by sending your children to school when they only have sniffles. If they're not well enough to be here, we will send them home.
Our top attending class this week is Year 4 with 97.9%
