Phishing/Smishing: Internet Safety
By: Lauren Reinecke
What is Phishing and Smishing?
Phishing/smishing is using a fake email/message to gain access to someone else's personal/account information. This is never good because when they gain access to your personal information they can stalk you, steal from you, and even use your identity to guard their own in a legal situation.
You can avoid being a victim of this by never replying to those messages and just deleting them. You can tell they're phony because your bank or other accounts already have your information so they don't need you to tell them it. By not replying, the phishers will leave it be.
