A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal

Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,

Happy Mother's Day Longhorn Mamas! I hope have an amazing Sunday! This week at the Ranch we focused on CELEBRATING! We celebrated our STAFF-amily for Staff Appreciation, Nurses Day, our Seniors for Decision Day, ABC Scholarship Recipients, and our Track Longhorns that headed to state on Friday, and surviving a week FULL of testing and being one week closer to summer vacay!

I would like to personally thank all the parents and students that reached out to your teachers or staff with kind emails and notes that have made a difference in your Longhorn's life this year...you made their WHOLE year! Those kind words make all the obstacles and hard days worth it! We appreciate you!

PTO and I still need you!

Thanks to our amazing PTO for treating us to breakfast tacos on Thursday for a staff treat, they hit the spot for another testing day! (Speaking of PTO...we are still in need of people that would be willing to step up and help us out for next year. I will tell you that this does NOT require near the work or time that you may have spent at the elementary or 6th grade level. It's a once a 6th week treat and a couple of luncheons...yep that's about it). Please reach out to our current PTO President reemkhayal@yahoo.com for more information about the positions available. (see more info below)

Senior Weekly Updates- There is a MONDAY DEADLINE!

Seniors and Senior parents please be checking your LCISD/Skyward listed email at least once a week for emails from me, these last few weeks will fly by and the deadlines must be followed!

Lamar CISD COVID-19 safety protocols- MASKS/FACE COVERINGS MUST BE WORN INSIDE all facilities and within 3 feet of each other outside. Keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols inside the building to the best of our ability.

Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH PTO BOARD POSITIONS!

PTO is looking for officers for the 21-22 school year!

We would love to have your help...and it's a LOT less time and work than an Elementary PTO....so you can totally do this! Our current GRHS PTO is on the lookout for parents to give a little of their time to help continue the Great Legacy of George Ranch High School PTO! Do you want to be more involved or know someone who would be a great asset to the Administration, Teachers, Staff, and Students at GRHS? The GRHS PTO provides amazing opportunities to advocate for your child and serve your community.

“Perks” of the job include:

1. Working with Administration and Teachers to promote a positive and powerful learning experience for your student.

2. Being “in the know” about upcoming events and activities at GRHS.

3. Getting to know members of the staff better.

4. Having a voice in how PTO funds are spent and allocated.

5. VERY little time each six weeks is required to help!

Please email reemkhayal@yahoo.com for more information about the positions available.

The Longhorns won two hard fought games against the Cinco Ranch Cougars in order to advance to the next round of Playoffs. The first game was won in a last at bat rally, 7-6! The second game the Longhorns were up the entire game with their energy on fire for every inning. Strong offense for the Longhorns was lead by Seleste Compian, Abby Bergeron, Karrlaun Deas, Zaria Turner and Kate Dolan. Both Nora Thompson and Turner pitched a game a piece.

In second round of playoffs against Cy Creek, the Longhorns dropped the first game 15-2. Cy Creek had strong bats hitting the holes in the outfield and putting one over the fence.
