Weekly Report
I have been sifting through online/in person assignments the last few weeks. The grading period ended today. The report cards will be ready for viewing around January 8 I believe.
When we get back.....you will see LOTS of IREAD stuff coming home. I do believe testing will still take place. We all know how quickly things can change though. I have lots of IREAD-type practice for them to do so that they feel comfortable come March when the real test takes place.
Thank you for sending in things for our party today. Also, thank you for the nice gifts from both elearners and in person learner. I appreciate your kindness. Although it isn't like normal years, we are making the best of it.
On January 4 we will be in the Google Classroom for 2nd semester. The old Google Classroom will be disabled. Please refer to the folder I sent home for the week of January 4. In case there are iPad hiccups, I do have some work ready and new reading books. The old books can be tossed out. We are in volume 2 now.
Reading--Weekly Story--Our story is called This is your Life Cycle and it is narrative fiction. The skills it focuses on are text and graphic features, summarizing, and author's purpose. We will have a quiz on Friday.
Math--We will be still be in Topic 6 and talking about area.
Spelling-- Words focus on /r/ sound with vowels--ar, or, ore. The test will be on Friday as usual.
Social Studies--We will begin a new Scholastic News. Please make sure it comes back to school with them on January 11 for in person kids. These articles are great practice for our IREAD test. Nonfiction text is difficult. Please read over the articles with your child. Science--We will be back to Mystery Science and begin Lesson 2.
English--We will continue Unit 2. We will focus on possessive nouns. There will be a short quiz on Friday.
