Friday Folder
January 7, 2022
Peace, Passion, Purpose
I always wanted to be someone better the next day than I was the day before.
It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver.
Notes from Michelle
HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope that everyone was able to have a restful and joyful time with family. We wanted to go over a few updates and reminders with our first Friday Folder for the year.
FRIDAY FOLDER-EMAILED: Every week there is an ONLINE Friday Folder sent out to you in your email. This Newsletter is also posted on the school website. We have some physical copies available in the front office if you would like a hard copy. Today, we are sending this out as a physical newsletter to ensure that all families are aware of the Friday Folder protocol. Please let us know at admin@eaglepeakmontessori.org.
REPORT CARDS: We will be sending home report cards on Friday, January 14th. Please note that there will likely be multiple areas with many “x”s. These indicate that a concept has not been covered at this time. You will likely also see many “1”s and “2”s on the report card. This is typical for the first report card. We do not expect mastery by January of concepts and therefore “3”s and “4”s are very unlikely. We have also made a purposeful effort this fall to work primarily with helping our students to readjust to being at school in person. We must provide for the social-emotional preparation of the students prior to them being ready for academics. This will continue to be a focus for this year.
Updated Guidance From CDC and CDPH: The CDC/CDPH has modified their quarantine for people who have tested positive for covid. They have shortened this time frame from 10 days to 5 days. Schools/Districts are permitted to have stricter rules than that those agencies but not less stringent rules. At this time, Eagle Peak is monitoring the situation and choosing to err on the side of caution. This means that for this time, we will continue with the 10 day quarantine status. This is for both vaccinated and un-vaccinated students. We are committed to doing our best to mitigate exposure on campus as best we can. We will update you if this changes.
Travel Guidance for Vaccinated Students: We want to clarify that students who are fully vaccinated (two weeks out from their second dose and/or boosted when that is available to their age groups), do not need to quarantine after travel by airplane unless they are showing symptoms. Proof of vaccination is required for the student to not quarantine.
Masks: Due to the level of contagion with the Omicron we are providing more N95 masks for staff. We encourage parents to ensure that their child’s masks are snug fitting over their nose. They do make N95 masks for children as well. We will work on finding sources for those as well.
Students Sent Home With Symptoms: We are in the process of determining what the process will be for students who have tested positive with Covid in the past 2 months. We will notify you once we have that information.
Classes and Schools closing: We are working to ensure that classes do not need to close due to lack of staffing or numbers of covid cases. We need your help with this. Please DO NOT send your child to school if they have any symptoms of covid, which can often look like the flu or a cold. Please limit your interactions outside of school where children are unmasked. In order to keep our community safe and for school to proceed uninterrupted it will take all of us working together. We thank you in advance for your support in this matter.
Stay well,
Michelle
