PCMS WEEKLY UPDATE
November 22, 2019
Over the last few weeks, we’ve had some conversations with our students about two small things that can make a world of a difference: BEING NICE & BEING KIND. As we continue to work with our kiddos on this topic, I’m asking you to ask your child a different question. Instead of the normal “How was your day?” and “What did you do?” (to which you probably get a 1-word answer between the two, if you’re lucky ;) Instead ask them, “Who did you help today?” or “Who’s day did you make better?” These two little questions could make such a difference in our classrooms, our school, and way beyond. Kindness is obviously not the only thing we focus on in education, but it is becoming more relevant to focus on than ever before.
Have a wonderful weekend, and since we won’t send a newsletter out next week, have a Happy Thanksgiving!

New Front Door Video Intercom System at PCMS
If you have visited PCMS this week, you know that our new doorbell security system is now in place! The purpose of the video intercom is to enhance school safety through controlled building access, entryway identification, and visitor monitoring. The new system requires a slightly different approach to entering our school during school hours. The process for any visitor requesting entry during the school day will be as follows:
1. When you approach the front doors of the school, press the button on the video intercom doorbell to the right. (Please stand as close to the handrail as possible so you will be visible in the camera.)
2. Our building front office staff will come across the intercom to welcome you and ask for the reason you are requesting school entry.
3. Please state your reason for requesting school access such as:
"I have an appointment with the principal."
"I need to check out my child from school."
"I would like to visit with a school counselor about my child's schedule."
"I am dropping off my child's lunch."
4. Our front office staff will provide you with some basic instructions as to what to do upon entering the building and release the front door as appropriate.
We recognize this process will take a few extra minutes when visiting our school, but we hope you value the improved security it provides for our students and staff. Thank you for your support and patience as we implement this new visitor management protocol.
PCR-3 Parent Survey Closes Soon!
The Platte County School District is conducting its annual parent survey to gather feedback on strengths of the district, as well as areas to consider for growth. We want to make sure every parent is heard so we can make meaningful improvements in our District and schools.
If you have not already, we ask that you complete the survey by clicking on the link below. If you have more than one student, please be sure to answer those questions for each building. The survey should take approximately fifteen minutes or less to complete.
Parent Survey Link - Please complete the survey by Sun, Dec 1!
Thank you in advance for your feedback!
STUCO Day of Hope & Treasure Chest Drive EXTENDED!
