Rountree Report
February 23, 2018
Kids really do deserve our best everyday! In order for that to happen you need to take care of you and take care of keeping balance a priority!
Information/Reminders
Presentation
The MSU in school players will be here next week on Tuesday, the 27th at 1:05 for a 30 minute presentation. When surveyed several of you wanted to ask them to come back. This is a choice assembly--you may decide whether you feel you want your class to attend.
Math IC
We will spend one more week reviewing the 2 components below. The Canvas discussion board is a required component of our focus on the Math IC this year. Discussions are taking the place of additional staff meetings around the components. (In essence saving you time) Thanks to those of you that have already posted! Postings must be completed by next Friday. This is a hard deadline--individual meetings to review components will be scheduled if discussion post is not completed. I would also appreciate you commenting on at least one of your colleagues posts. There are several great ideas and resources already on there so take a look! Specialty teachers--please go to the discussion and share how you are able to incorporate math and support a numeracy rich environment within your class.
***Please let me know if you and your grade level partner would like to take a half day to observe math workshop.
***Don't forget that you need to schedule a time for me to come and observe math in your classroom. I have loved seeing all the math in action!!!! You need to be on my calendar for an observation prior to Spring Break.
***Please take the time to review the 2 components below and comment on the related Canvas Discussion. These components are extremely important and have a huge impact on student success.

READ ACROSS AMERICA
Read Across America Day is on March 2nd! Students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue attire and classroom teachers may choose a 30 min. (K-2) and 45 min. (3-5) of time that day to allow students time to read (or be read to)! This would also be a great time to buddy up with a different grade level to do some partner reading! There will be a special prize for the class that shows the most spirit and all of the classes that complete the 30 or 45 min. reading time will get a bookmark and pencil. Specialties are encouraged to participate by including a read-aloud in your lessons on March 2nd! Here are a few more resources for RAA celebration ideas:
