NEED 2 KNOW

Happy Thanksgiving!

With Thanksgiving next week, it's hard not to have at least one sappy "I'm thankful for....." post, so I thought I'd give in and provide one for you.

Since taking the position as Lead Coach for Vanguard last year, I have had many ups and downs. Sometimes there's a slow down in the work and sometimes there's so much to do that I find myself drowning in emails and responsibilities. But one thing that remains consistent is my level of love, respect, and awe for this team. I am incredibly fortunate to travel from school to school and see the finest teachers and work in Fulton County. In fact, I see such amazing things that it often makes me angry with Cherokee County (where my kids are in school) because they're not doing the same unbelievable things. :)

Thank you all for allowing me to be continually inspired and driven to do the work that we're doing. I hope each and every one of you has a peaceful and relaxing break from school.

iPad Access Problems

If you are having issues with the 4G access on your Vanguard iPad, please be sure to reach out to Carla Mendes (mendes@fultonschools.org).

McClarin HS - Using Data to Inform Instruction

We have all faced classroom situations that seem impossible - too many students, too many academic levels, too many standards, etc. This Roving Reporter features Vanguard member Farhat Ahmad who discusses how he addresses those issues and sees success in a challenging environment.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Microsoft Innovative Educator Training Academy

Microsoft is partnering with our district and is offering a Microsoft Innovative Educator Trainer Academy on December 6-7 at North Learning Center.

This workshop will explore the tools of Office 365 (OneNote, OfficeMix, Sway, Forms, Skype and more) and how they can impact teaching and learning. The goal is for all participants to redeliver the information learned to others. This could be at your school, at Vanguard events, or district level events.

Mindy Ramon is looking to increase the number of trainers that we have in the district. If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete this form ASAP. Spots are limited.

DON'T FORGET

Nominate Someone (Or Yourself) Today!

The Atlanta Families' Awards for Excellence in Education are now accepting nominations for 2017! This is an incredible opportunity to recognize someone amazing at your school or in our county. In fact, the Vanguard team is FULL of members that would make deserving recipients.

In 2015, Vanguardian Megan Endicott was recognized for the work she's doing at Dolvin ES. Take a look at her feature on their website!
