Biometric Screenings Are Underway
Biometric screenings have started! Neenah Joint School District employees and spouses enrolled in Humana Health Insurance for 2023 may register for a free 2023 Biometric Screening. Prevea Health coaches will be providing 20-minute appointments that include a measure for height, weight, blood pressure, a fasting finger-stick blood draw, and a brief coaching session.
There are still dates to choose from at several locations. Employees should attempt to schedule a date at their home-based building. The designated dates for spouses and retirees are now full, so spouses and retirees can now schedule an appointment for any date/location that is still available on the schedule. For 2023, spouses are not required to complete the biometric screening, however, it is strongly encouraged as their points will be added to the employees Go365 account to reach the wellness incentive and maintain the lower insurance premium rate. Schedule early to get an appointment between Jan. 1-Feb. 28, 2023.
Important Deadlines:
- Go365 Biometric Screenings Completed Of -Site (provider or other location): February 14- Go365 Biometric Screenings Completed On-Site: February 28
- Go365 Online Health Assessment: February 28
- Achieved a minimum of Silver status: August 31

Prevea is requiring masks to be worn during biometric screenings. Those being screened are encouraged to bring a mask to the screenings, though Prevea will have a limited supply available.

Please Review Your January 10 Paystub
* Insurance premiums
* HSA deductions
* 403(b) and 457 deductions
* Insurance Buyout (if applicable) - this appears in the "Pays Summary" section of your pay stub.
* The WRS rate is changed to 6.8%
Please be aware that when you are reading your paystub, there is a deductions section, and a benefits section. The deductions section is everything you pay for each payroll. The benefits section is the amount the District is responsible for each payroll and is NOT deducted from your paycheck. Below is an example:
If you elected the WEA 4000/8000 plan, your health deduction will indicate you are enrolled in the “HEALTH BUYD” plan. If you elected the WEA 3000/6000 plan, your health deduction will indicate you are enrolled in the "HEALTH CORE" plan. If you elected the WEA 2000/4000 plan, your health deduction will indicate you are enrolled in the "HEALTH BUYU" plan.
To assist in ensuring the proper deductions are withheld, click here to view the premiums for the health, dental, and vision plans. STD, LTD Buy-Up, and Optional Life premiums are based on your salary; if you enrolled in the benefit, simply verify the deduction is coming out of your check. The amount is accurate and is based on the coverage level you selected, your age, and your rate of pay. If you have questions about those deductions, reach out to Becky Frakes.
Please look over your paycheck carefully and notify Becky Frakes of any discrepancies within 10 business days.
Know Your Filing Status for Accuracy and Avoiding Surprises
Taxpayers need to know their correct filing status and be familiar with each option. The IRS Interactive Tax Assistant can help them determine their filing status.
A taxpayer's filing status typically depends on whether they are single or married on Dec. 31, which determines their filing status for that entire year.
More than one filing status may apply in certain situations. If this is the case, taxpayers can usually choose the filing status that allows them to owe the least amount of tax.
When preparing and filing a tax return, the filing status affects:
· If the taxpayer is required to file a federal tax return
· If they should file a return to receive a refund
· Their standard deduction amount
· If they can claim certain credits
· The amount of tax they should pay
Here are the five filing statuses:
· Single. Normally, this status is for taxpayers who are unmarried, divorced or legally separated under a divorce or separate maintenance decree governed by state law.
· Married filing jointly. If a taxpayer is married, they can file a joint tax return with their spouse. When a spouse passes away, the widowed spouse can usually file a joint return for that year.
· Married filing separately. Married couples can choose to file separate tax returns. When doing so, it may result in less tax owed than filing a joint tax return.
· Head of household. Unmarried taxpayers may be able to file using this status, but special rules apply. For example, the taxpayer must have paid more than half the cost of keeping up a home for themselves and a qualifying person living in the home for half the year.
· Qualifying widow or widower with dependent child. This status may apply to a taxpayer if their spouse died during one of the previous two years and they have a dependent child. Other conditions also apply.

COVID Testing Center Closed; Free Tests Available for Staff
Beginning January 2, 2023, NJSD no longer offers on-site COVID-19 testing. Students and staff are encouraged to use community testing sites or antigen home testing kits to identify cases of COVID-19. NJSD will provide antigen home testing kits at no cost to students and staff who request them through their school’s health office.
Though we are providing these tests to students and staff, testing will not be conducted at any of our schools. NJSD staff will not administer the tests nor will they interpret the results. Antigen home test kits should be administered in the student’s or staff member’s home.
