What we are learning:
Mathematics:
Our Math rotations are going great! This gives them the chance to get out of their seats and learn in many different ways including small group with teacher, games, technology, and more!
Students should be working on Red Bird at home to practice math skills. This is a personalize learning tool that is adaptive to their needs, so please do not help them with the problems. This app can be accessed through Launch Pad, or use this direct link: https://fcs.redbirdschools.com/

Social Studies:
This week we will begin our DBQ (Document Based Questions). As a class, we will read and break down an article and analyze primary/secondary sources to answer the question "Valley Forge: Would you have quit?"
Science:
The week of the 16th, we will be starting our Solar Systems Unit and studying planets and stars. We have already been to our science lab for this unit and are very excited to dive into the content! Click the link below to view some additional resources:

*For one of the activities for this unit we will need a couple rolls of toilet paper. If you have an extra roll lying around, or you can grab a cheap roll from the store to send in before this unit, it would be greatly appreciated. :)
Reading Workshop
We are completing our first Unit in Reading on Character Study. The class will take their OnDemand Assessment where they will demonstrate what they have learned about the character(s) in a story. We will take the pre-assessment for our next unit of study which will be determining the main idea of a text, the supporting details, and summarize the text.
*If your student does not have realistic fiction books to read at home, they may check out a book at the CCES library to help support them in continuing this reading work.
Writing Workshop
We are completing our first unit on writing realistic fiction. We are finalizing and publishing our first piece. We will take the pre-assessment for our next unit of study which will be writing an opinion piece
Contact Cards
Our conduct cards are used to ensure we're preparing our students to grow, and become independent and responsible. With that being said, conduct cards go home everyday. We need these signed weekly every Wednesday.
Students will get the opportunity to cash in for a coupon after two weeks. In order to cash in for a coupon, the students must have three or less marks, as well as the card being signed on each side.
