FSA Academic Bowl Team Advances to Nationals

Big picture

Dear FSA Community,

On April 20, 2019 seventh grade students Weston B., Noah D., Richard K., Sanjana K., and Peter S. competed in the 2019 Georgia Academic Bee and Bowl against 36 teams at RIver Trail Middle School in Johns Creek. None of these students had ever entered an Academic Bowl nor practiced together as a team; They entered this competition with a major disadvantage, but exited victorious!

This win qualifies the team to compete at the 2019 US Academic Bowl and US History Bowl this summer in Chicago. Weston B. also competed individually in the Academic Bee and will advance to compete at Nationals in this event as well.

Richard K. commented about the anticipated national competition, "Am I ready now? NO! Shall I be ready in June? Yes!"

Sanjana K. stated, "It was a fantastic experience and I would love to do it again."

These students would like to thank their teachers and coaches from various teams such as Science Olympiad, Math, Robotics and History. Their success was a culmination of the background knowledge learned not only in the classroom at FSA, but also from the various after school academic opportunities that equipped these students with an advantage.

Way to go!
