Gilbert Public Schools Family Newsletter - February 24, 2021
Dear Gilbert Public Schools Parents and Families,
I want to thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for Gilbert Public Schools. Your support and your generosity make a huge difference in the lives of our students. As we move forward, we will continue to reiterate the importance of following COVID-19 mitigation strategies on our campuses. We rely on our students and families to adhere to the processes and protocols we have in place, to promote the health and safety of all of our students, staff, and families. For more information on these protocols and strategies please visit our district website and don't hesitate to reach out to your student's campus with any questions. As Spring Break approaches it is imperative that we continue to follow these precautions, both on and off-campus.
Please read this week’s newsletter and join us in congratulating and celebrating our students! We continue to be impressed by their resilience, their dedication to their education, and their support of each other.
If you have questions, please reach out to your child's school, and our district offices, and thank you as always for your continued support of your child's school and our district.
Sincerely,
Shane McCord, Ed. D.
Superintendent

School Social Workers - Lighting the Way
School social workers promote the social and emotional development of students while addressing barriers to learning. They also place high value on relationship building while empowering students and employing practices that address the needs of the whole child.
School social workers, who are also known as Mental Health Counselors at our high schools, promote the continuum of services, mobilize resources and help connect community supports for families in need. They support our school communities by contributing to a team approach and working with all school personnel: administrators, teachers, counselors, school psychologists, school nurses and support staff. It is through these collaborations they are able to facilitate engagement between student, family, school and community.
This year's School Social Work theme, "Beacon of Hope: School Social Workers - Lighting the Way" , embodies the vital contributions that the school social workers in Gilbert Public Schools have made during this pandemic, to serve and address student needs, as well as those of their families, and Gilbert Public School staff.
Join us as we celebrate School Social Work Week, March 7th - 13th.
