SOUND OF MUSIC

Don't miss our incredible musical production of The Sound of Music THIS FRIDAY at 7pm in the Kellogg Auditorium!

Kudos to Director Poppy Lear and all our student actors for their hard work and dedication to this production.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchase at the door.

Hope to see you there!

COURAGE RETREAT

7th grade students will participate in the Courage Retreat put on my Youth Frontiers. The retreat will take place on Wednesday, December 5. Students will be split into 2 groups and will attend the retreat at either the National Volleyball Center or the Kellogg Gymnasium. 7th grade students that opt not to participate should not attend school that day as there will be no classes for 7th grade students.

Principal Coffee Chat

In effort to open lines of communication with parents, we are hosting our first round of Principal Coffee Chats. Warm up with a cup of coffee while sharing ideas, expressing concerns and asking questions. Your input matters. Please consider joining me December 12 from 8-9am or 1:30-2:30pm in Kellogg Conference Room. This will be an open forum for dialogue. No agenda will be created. Just show up and speak up!

8 Things We Know About (Most) Middle School Kids

I adapted this list from an article of the same title written by Jennifer Gonzalez. While many of these points are laughable, they are also cringe worthy! Rest well. ALL our kids (and parents) are navigating the same waters!

1. THEY CARE MORE ABOUT THE OPINIONS OF THEIR PEERS THAN ANYTHING.

2. THEY ARE HORRIFIED BY WHAT THEIR BODIES ARE DOING.

3. THEY TREND TOWARD HYPERBOLE.

4. THEY ARE MORTIFIED BY ADULT PRAISE AND AFFECTION.

5. THEY CAN’T KEEP SECRETS.

6. THEY JUST NOW REALIZING YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING. WAIT…NEVER MIND.

7. THEY ARE PULLING AWAY FROM PARENTS.

8. THEY ARE STILL KIDS.

While the original blog entry was tailored to teachers, I am sure you will enjoy some of the take-aways! Feel free to enjoy it here. https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/middle-school-kids/
