ENGAGE South Carolina Program
The S.C. Department of Education is launching a new program to support students who need help engaging with school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ENGAGE South Carolina program will provide a personal academic coach to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The coach will help develop a plan for academic success, answer questions about technology and curriculum, monitor students’ progress and pace and help foster connections to additional community programs.
“Throughout the pandemic, the lives of so many of our students and their families have been upended, and understandably many students have struggled with this transition,” S.C. Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman said in a news release. “ENGAGE South Carolina is designed to support these learners and help ensure they stay on track for graduation and beyond.”
The program is a partnership between the S.C. Department of Education and Graduation Alliance, an organization that creates equitable learning experiences for students who might otherwise struggle. All South Carolina public schools are eligible for the program, which is free to schools and families.
Families can sign up for the program directly online at https://parentssc.graduationalliance.com/.

Please contact an administrator or the school nurse (Rhonda Cranford, RN, direct line:803-981-1564) if your student tests positive for Covid-19 or is in close contact with a person who has tested positive.
Communication this school year is key in the prevention and spread of the Covid-19 virus.
What does it mean to be a close contact of someone with COVID-19?
Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 for at least several minutes (usually about 15 minutes). The virus is spread primarily from person to person through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth or nose. That is why it is so important to wash your hands often and clean frequently touched surfaces at least daily.
