Chef Cat Cora

Chef Catherine Ann Cora (Cat Cora) was born in Jackson, Mississippi on April 3, 1967. She has held on greatly to her Greek and Southern roots which she uses to create numerous delicious meals. Her growing popularity is responsible for her roles on many T.V. shows. Cat and her wife Jennifer Cora have four children, Nash, Caje, Thatcher, and Zoran.

Education

Cat Cora is a graduate of Wingfield High School in her hometown. After high school, she attended the university of Southern Mississippi and got her Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Biology. She later went on to attend the college of her dreams, The Culinary Institute of America, where she got an education that progressed her to be a better chef. This progression helped her land apprenticeships with Chef Ann Rozenweig at Arcadia, Chef George Blanc, and Chef Roger Verge.

Employment

Cat showed her skills as a Sous Chef at The Old Chatham Shepherding Company under Chef Melissa Kelly. Then in California she was Chef de Cuisine at Napa Valley's Bistro Don Giovanni.

Restaurants

Ocean Restaurant is a big accomplishment for Cat. Ocean is located at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore were they serve light and healthy dishes using fresh produce from the region. Cat's other restaurant is Cat Cora's Kitchen in Houston, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City. Here she focuses on using fresh seafood and organic ingredients to cook with.

Books/Television Shows

Cat has written three cookbooks and a children's book, that each offer something different. Her first book Classics With a Twist offers quick and healthier tips to cooking classic recipes, her second book Cooking From The Hip offers a way of improvising quick meals in little to no time at all, her third book Cat Cora's Kitchen is inspired by her Greek and Southern roots, and her fourth book A Suitcase Surprise for Mommy is a children's book inspired by her oldest son. In addition to the books, Cat has been on numerous T.V. shows. In 2004 she hosted Kitchen Accomplished, from 2005-2012 she was an Iron Chef on Iron Chef America, in 2006 she starred in Celebrity Cooking Showdown, in 2007 she was on Chef's Story and The Next Food Network Star, in 2008 she was a guest judge on The Next Iron Chef, she is still on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, in 2010 she was a guest judge on MasterChef, in 2011 she was a guest judge on Top Chef: Just Desserts, in 2012 she was guest judge on Top Chef, in 2012 she was a co-host on Around The World in 80 Plates and Chopped All-Stars, in 2014 she was mentor on America's Best Cook, in 2014 she was on Food Fighters, and finally in 2015 she was a guest judge on Cutthroat Kitchen.

Awards/Recognition

In 2012, Cat was honorably inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame.
