Message from Principal Wagner
February 27, 2022
Good evening BMES Families,
This month, we kickoff our Read Across America celebration. Our students will be engaging in books that represent all 50 states. If your family have sent in postcards, we appreciate it. To kick off this celebration this week, your students are welcome to dress up according to our spirit days outlined below. Tomorrow is Dress like a Tourist!
Also, tomorrow is the last day to preorder your child's yearbook for this school year. Please use the link below to preorder your copy. We are working hard on capturing the memories from this school year!
Lastly, March 11th will be an early dismissal for our students. Please mark your calendars for dismissal at 12:45pm on Friday, March 11.
Have a great evening,
Week of February 28-March 4

Please let our parents know if they want to guarantee to get a yearbook they need to order by February 28. We will order some extras to sell when they arrive but do not want to over order so we want to do a big push this month to get as many ordered as possible.

Interested in Tabb Middle School Spirit Wear
TMS has shared their spirit wear order form with us. They have 3 different designs of t-shirts and hoodies, as well as a baseball cap and car magnet.
BMES families can order online until March 11 and TMS will deliver orders directly to Bethel Manor a couple of weeks after that, hopefully by spring break.
As part of the division's efforts to address unfinished learning in accordance with the ARP Act ESSER III funds, the York County School Division has partnered with FEV Tutor to provide students in grades 3-12 with free, 1:1 online tutoring. In addition to supporting coursework and homework in core subjects such as math, English/Language Arts, science and social studies, FEV Tutor offers support for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
Along with the on-demand support, FEV Tutor also offers weekly sessions between 7 and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends so families can select the times that work best for their schedule. To get started with e-tutoring, students should log in to Clever and locate the FEV Tutor app icon to get started. They can then schedule sessions and access live help at any time of the day.
While all support is live and personalized to each student's classes and needs, the program does not involve device cameras or microphones - instead all interactions involve a whiteboard and chat feature. Students will be able to share their screens and upload documents to review with tutors, and tutors only have access to student work provided by the individual student. Once a student is signed up for weekly sessions, FEV Tutor may periodically email families and students (aged 13 and older).
The division’s COVID-19 Dashboard continues to be updated daily to reflect the members of the Bethel Manor Elementary school community who have entered isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19. For the latest data for our school, please refer to the Dashboard. Additionally, staff members have notified all individuals who were identified as close contacts, as defined by the Virginia Department of Health. If you have not been contacted personally, your children were not considered close contacts. Information regarding contact tracing and quarantine requirements is available in the division’s Safe Return Plan.
