Rhythm
What is Rhythm Poetry?
Rhythm Poetry is: Recurring language features, usually features of sound such as stressing syllables. Although difficult to define, rhythm is understood by the ear and brain. It involves qualities of movement, repetition, and pattern and are from the poem’s nature as a structure. Rhythm, by any definition, is essential to poetry. When rhythmic patterns are added, the reader gets a better sense of emotion and feeling.
An Example of Rhythm Poetry
My papa's Waltz by Theodore Roethke
We romped until the pans
Slid from the kitchen shelf;
My mother's countenance
Could not unfrown itself
The Bold parts show why it is rhythm.
