Salemwood Shark Newsletter

October 2022 Edition

MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL VAN

Greetings Salemwood Families!

Happy Fall! It’s amazing how quickly Fall is upon us! We are hoping that each and every one of you are doing and feeling well! We thank you for making sure to get our students here on time each and every day and excited about their learning!

As the dark cold mornings are approaching, please make sure that you make proper arrangements to drop your child off when our doors open (School hours: Kindergarten-Grade 6: 8:15am-2:15pm; Grade 7 & Grade 8- 7:45am-2:20pm). Please do not leave your child unsupervised. Unfortunately we do not have staff available until their contractual time.

We are looking for caregivers to volunteer to be on our PTO and School Site Council. If you are interested please email me.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns (email: vhuynh@maldenps.org)! We thank you for all your support

Ms. Van Huynh

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will take place from October 31 to November 4 in the Salemwood School Library and will even be open after school until 3:00, Monday through Thursday, so families have a

chance to come in shop as well.

We can accept cash, checks as well as credit and debit cards. In addition, we are offering

eWallet β€” your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, you can set up eWallet for

worry-free, cash-free purchases by visiting https://www.scholastic.com/bf/swfall22bookfair.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL NOTICE

Parking at the Salemwood has always been somewhat of a challenge.

If your plan is to leave the car to accompany your child to their line please note, there is no parking or drop off in the school parking lot. The spaces are reserved for staff so the teachers are able to welcome our students on time.

Please be mindful of our neighbors. Do not park in such a way as to block driveways to make the street impassable.

The Salemwood School does not have any elementary staff on duty prior to 8:10. Please do not drop off your little one early. Children are not allowed into the building before school as there is no one available to watch them.

Please note, there is no supervision before or afterschool on the school ground or playground.
