Take Time to Simply Enjoy Yourself
The holidays are finally here! Either you’re excited as I am or smacking your forehead just waiting for the stress to end. Take this time to simply enjoy yourself! Don’t worry about counting every calorie. Eat what you love. The mental benefits will outweigh the small physical setbacks. Try getting some exercise most days if it’s only a walk. Disconnect to reconnect. This is a fun time to take pictures/video and share with others, but if not careful we can quickly get caught up watching everyone live their lives and forget to live ours. Be mindful of screen time and connect with those around you. And don’t forget to be good because Santa IS watching! From me to you, Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
Let's Talk About New Years Resolutions
Let's talk about New Year's resolutions! How many times have you made resolutions and totally crushed your goals? And how many times have you started out strong, but then life gets in the way? If you are like me, both scenarios have happened throughout the years. So, why is this? Why do we stick to some goals and not others? There are many reasons for this, but ultimately the goals that we drop are often unrealistic, unspecific, or not as important to us as we thought.
Let's flip this and discuss the we ways we can be successful in our goals for the new year. First off, be realistic. Setting a goal to run five miles every day may not be realistic, but you can probably carve out 20-30 minutes of movement most days of the week.
Once you have a realistic goal, write down specific ways you will achieve this. This may be getting up a little earlier or keeping your walking shoes in your car for a midday walk break. Better yet, aim to join us for our after school classes.
Finally, don't set too many goals. Pick the top one or two that are most important to you and focus on that. It's also helpful to write down why the goals are important. Simply writing this down will help to increase the likelihood that you will continue to work towards it.
Most importantly, if you find that your resolutions aren't going as planned, reevaluate them, and start back at it. Remember, our doors are always open if you would like to stop by and discuss your goals. We are happy to share some helpful strategies if you need ideas and give out high-fives to celebrate your successes.
I wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season and new year! Let's make 2023 the best one yet!
Find Joy this Holiday Season
The holiday season doesn't have to be elaborate and busy to be joyful. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses! If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle that the holiday season brings, stop and evaluate what brings you joy and stress. Embrace this holiday with a simplistic attitude by remembering the reason for the season and spending time with your loved ones. Along the way, stick to your routine and take time out for yourself. I hope your holiday is filled with family, love, and many blessings. See you in 2023!
