Class T-Shirts!

We have exciting news! Every student at OES will receive a class t-shirt with our newly created Vision mottos! This year, we were able to purchase all shirts for students and hope to be able to do this again next year! Each grade level picked a different color and these will be worn by students and staff at Pirate Awards Assemblies at the end of each quarter, on any Field Trips, on Field Day, and any day your child wants to sport our school's Vision!

What is Donuts with Heart?

Each month, one grade level chooses a group in our community to recognize. We invite that group, along with that grade level's parents, to join us for donuts, juice, and coffee in the morning before school at 7:30. We present them with cards and a ribbon to thank them for all they do for their service to Olathe. The schedule for the year is below:

October 20th- 4th Graders/ Mrs. Brittany's OECC class and their families and Fire Dept

November 10th- 3rd Graders/ Mrs. Emily's OECC class and their families and Veterans

January 19th - 5th Graders/Mrs. Stacy's OECC class and their families and DO and School Board

Be a Buddy Not a Bully!

This year to show that we are being buddies and not bullies, all staff and students are encouraged to wear royal blue shirts OR any Olathe shirt that is blue every week on Wednesdays this year!

Olathe Elementary is a Capturing Kids' Hearts campus! Our teachers have participated in CKH training to develop skills for intentionally building strong relationships with students and between students. We recognize that need to feel emotionally and physically safe to fully engage in learning.

What does this look like?

Classroom social contracts

Launches (daily quotes that end each class and day)

Positive relationships

Positive conflict resolution with the 4 questions process

Peer accountability

Here are our Launches for the next 2 weeks:

1. Don't judge a book by its cover.

2. No beauty shines brighter than a good heart.

Pirate's Pledge

I will...Attend, Appreciate, Respect, Grow, and Help! AARGH!
