Target Audience:
- Grades 4-5 teachers responsible for teaching ELA Standards
- Academic Coaches that support 4th and 5th grade teachers
- Administrators and school improvement specialists that support 4th and 5th grade teachers and are working to improve literacy in these grades
Discover research and strategies that will transform your practice to acknowledge and address disparities among your students. Explore research centered around effectively supporting all students as they (sometimes unknowingly) develop literacy skills.
You'll walk away with:
- Strategies for vocabulary building, close reading, successful literacy interventions, and more
- Next steps to address curriculum, assessment, and instruction to improve both literacy skills and access for all students in your classroom
- Action plans to improve outcomes for struggling learners and English learners
- A bigger professional network based on the connections you'll make with other teachers, academic coaches and professionals in attendance
Participants should bring Jennifer Serravallo’s, “The Reading Strategy Book” (If you do not have it, we will provide it for you…see “Cost” above), light jacket or sweater, pen, paper, etc.
