Pine Road Grows Great Kids

A MESSAGE FROM MR. COLE

Hello Pine Road Families!

The first part of May has certainly just flown by us! It is hard to believe that June is just around the corner! It has been a busy and fun couple of weeks here at Pine Road and the rest of the year looks to continue much the same!

By the time you are reading this PSSA testing will be mostly concluded (with just some make-ups left to finish). Our students did a great job giving their best efforts each and every day! Thank you to the whole school community for your support these past few weeks!

I would be remiss if I did not mention our Multicultural Family Night that was held on the 2nd of this month. It was an absolutely wonderful showcase of the diverse tapestry of families that make up the community of Pine Road! It was wonderful being able to learn about all of the special customs of so many different countries! I can also say that enjoying so many delicious foods was a particularly enjoyable part of the evening! A big thank you to the Pine Road Diversity Committee, comprised of staff and parents, for organizing a wonderful event!

Lastly, take a moment to learn more about the Coins for Cuteness Fundraiser. Thie wonderful charity, which benefits the Ronald McDonald House, was started by Pine Road students in 2014. Those same students are now sophomores at LMHS and are excited to continue their service after a hiatus during the pandemic. I have seen firsthand how generous our community is and am sure this will be a great success!

Please review this newsletter closely as there is a lot of important information about end-of-year events included!

Important Nutrition Update

The universal free meal program is set to expire on the last day of school unless the bill is extended by Congress. Lower Moreland Students will return to a paid, free and reduced meal program for the 2022-2023 school year. The price for a reimbursable breakfast at Pine Road and Murray Ave is $1.65. The price for reimbursable lunch at Pine Road is $2.60 and the price for lunch at Murray Ave is $2.75. Lower Moreland High School will return to an A la Carte breakfast and lunch program. For more information about the free and reduced program or to see if your student(s) qualifies, please click the link.

First View Application

Lower Moreland Township School District has partnered with FirstView which is an app for parents that allows for direct access to the status of your child’s bus. FirstView GPS tracks the bus on a map and allows you to set up a customizable geofence around your pick-up/drop-off location, so you can be alerted when the bus is close. You can customize your notifications on the app. This is a free app for parents that can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Here are the instructions for getting started with the app: FirstView Bus App. The instruction sheet has the district code and a list of the bus routes that are needed to register. Using this app is optional. The district will continue to send Connect Ed notifications about the status of bus changes or significant delays.

Dismissal Reminder

LMTPD has reached out to us to request that we remind families to please be mindful of the neighborhoods around the school.

Families should not be parking in neighborhoods and walking to pick up or drop off students. Thank you for your cooperation.

Cafeteria Information

Please review the linked communication regarding the potential impact of supply chain issues on our school lunches. The Nutrition Group has responded to these challenges extremely well, but families are encouraged to more closely monitor our menus as they may need to shift more frequently.

The Foundation for Lower Moreland Schools

As we move into Tax Season, we invite you to learn more on how you can decrease your Tax Liability while investing in your school. If you own a business or work for a company in the state of Pennsylvania, now is the time to act. Through Education Tax Improvement Credit Program, businesses can donate up to $750,000 each year to EITC-eligible organizations, and then claim 75 percent of that donation as a credit that offsets their state tax bill. For more information please visit our website: www.lmtsdfoundation.org . You can also email us at flms@lmtsd.org

The Foundation for Lower Moreland Schools is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to improving public education in the Lower Moreland Township School District. Originally established in 2009, the foundation's mission is to raise major gift funds from the private sector to expand and enhance our current programs, all for the benefit of our students and faculty.
