Tiger Teacher Topics of the Week

Mrs. Jester's Math

Mrs. Jester's 6th grade math will be talking about solutions to inequalities.

Mrs. Jester's 6th grade Pre-AP Pre-Algebra students will be working on solving percent problems using the percent proportion and the percent equation.

Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Turnbow's Math

Mrs. Turnbow's classes will be writing and graphing inequalities, reviewing one-step equations and assessing those skills on Friday.

Mrs. Reynolds' Spanish

Next week, we will continue with the verb ser and start a new verb tener. Ask students to sing you the songs!

Ms. Jasper's Science

We are starting Chapter 2 Lesson 3 this week. We will be talking about magnetism and completing notes for lesson 3, as well as doing some activities.

Your students have Lesson 1 and 2 notes for Chapter 2 already. They should be reviewing those in preparation for our Chapter 2 test that will be coming up in the next couple of weeks.

You can download the ConnectEd app on your child's phone or tablet, and use their username and login I sent you to let them readily have access to videos and activities that go with our book if you want.

Thank you for the toilet paper rolls, batteries and lights you sent. We had so much fun building flash lights last week!!

Ms. Clark's Science

We will be making flashlights this week. If students wish to take their flashlights with them they must bring their own toilet paper roll, a couple of D cell batteries and electrical tape.

Thanks!!

Current Classroom Needs:

1-2 packages of balloons

2-3 rolls of masking tape, and I know this sounds odd but.... we anticipate the need for a couple of strings of older holiday lights ...we will be cutting out sections and won't be able to return them....lighter colored bulbs work better, as darker ones won't do as well in our 'flashlights' we'll be making.

Thank you as always for thinking of us!"

Mr. Janzen and Mrs. Anderson's Social Studies

In the month of November, social studies classes will focus on the election process here in the US. We will have a mock election here at school. The kids will also have a tracking map to track the real election results on November 8. We will also focus on types of economies found around the world. November 17 will be a date to put a star by on the calendar as we will take our "1st term" test. The test will cover topics covered during the first 12 weeks of school and will be written using higher level questions normally seen on the OCCT tests. Look for a study sheet coming home soon.

Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Frank's English

In English this nine weeks students are gathering evidence from the stories we read to support their opinion of whether or not exotic animals should be owned as pets. This week we will be close reading the article, "Views on Zoos," as well as, reading the poems, "A Voice" and "Words Like Freedom."

Mrs. Edwards' Literacy

In Literacy, we will start reading The Running Dream. As we read, we will be working on skills such as: reading comprehension, inferencing, vocabulary, reflecting on what we have read, discussion groups, and drawing illustrations based on the story.
