Chromebooks
The district is changing our web filter from iBoss to GoGuardian the weekend of September 5. Please have your students restart their chromebooks on Monday to enforce these changes. Content filtering is not completely fail-safe. Here is the District Device Take Home Handbook with additional guidance on taking home Chromebooks. Students will be expected to bring a CHARGED Chromebook with them to school everyday. If you haven’t already returned the device contract, please read, sign and return the contract to school as soon as possible. How can you help your student? Remind them to charge it every night, help them keep it clean and encourage them to not share with others.
Safety
Please remind students to wear a mask before and after school. We ask that they have their mask on until they leave campus.

Library Books
When checking out library books here at SMS you need to have your student ID to be able to check out, make sure you are using hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the library. We ask that you only touch the books that you are interested in and you can always read the description from the computer rather than touching the book.
You can look at books in our library from the comfort of your own home! Go to the SMS website, go to student resources, click on Library Innovation Center and then go to the SMS library catalog. Here you are able to look at our books, read what they are about, and place a hold on the book that you want to read. If that book is available for check out, the library staff will check it out to you and deliver it during the school day. It really is that easy! You can also access the library website quickly from your grade-level’s Canvas Help Center page. Check out the how-to videos!
When putting holds on books, please be mindful of how fast you are going to read that book. Please only place holds on books that you are going to read during that week. You are allowed to have 4 books on hold; however, that does not mean you should. If the book that you are placing on hold is a big chapter book please only request one book at a time and when you are almost finished with that book you may place a hold on the next one.
Again, let’s start returning these overdue books to continue to share these books with our peers! Only check out the amount of books that you are able to read in a week. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns send us an email at vanessa.gonzales@weldre4.org
