iPads Distributed Today!

iPads were distributed to students today. If your child is supposed to be bringing the device home each day, please set up a routine at home for where the device will be charged each evening and put back in backpacks for the following day. One easy method is to put the backpack on the floor right under the outlet where the iPad is charged every day. That way, you are reminded to grab the iPad when you get your bag on the way out the door.

Optional iPad Insurance is on sale for a limited time each school year, but can save your family hundreds of dollars. Check it out here: Optional iPad Insurance

Volunteer Application Online

Please click here to complete the first requirement of the Pepper Drive Volunteer Application. After completion, you will need to bring your Photo ID to the school office. Background checks take approximately 2 weeks. You will be notified by email when you are approved. Then you can arrange volunteer opportunities with the classroom teacher.

Welcome to Pepper Drive, Mrs. Shirey!

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you and your family. My name is Mrs. Shirey and I will be the new School Counselor at Pepper Drive for the 2022-2023 school year. I am excited and honored to be joining this amazing team of educators and staff. I look forward to meeting you and your student(s) and to helping your student(s) succeed in meeting their own personal goals for this school year and beyond.

I will be offering counseling services as an additional resource to help your student succeed in their academic goals as well as support their social and emotional growth throughout the school year. Counseling sessions in a school setting are typically short-term in nature and focus on solutions to help your child succeed in all areas of their development.

Counseling activities may include individual or group counseling, whole class presentations and observations. Many of these activities will focus on helping students learn ways to build positive social skills, gain confidence in their ability to interact with others and learn ways to deal with problems and conflicts constructively.

Counseling sessions typically meet once a week for thirty (30) minutes, at a time arranged with teachers. Your student may be referred to counseling from a teacher, staff member or from you as a parent/guardian. To make a referral, please visit my webpage: https://pd.santeesd.net/cms/One.aspx?portalId=27051972&pageId=29372812 . I can also be reached via email, at Nichole.shirey@santeesd.net or by phone at 619-956-5135. Please email me if you have ANY questions or concerns. I am thrilled to be working with your students! Have a great start to the school year everyone!

School Lunches

School lunches are still FREE this year to all students. Here is a link to the district website for Child Nutrition. There you will find directions for downloading the app to see monthly lunch menus. Sometimes younger students get confused between snacks and lunch. Please talk to your student(s) about whether or not they are getting a school lunch. Our Campus Aides are excellent at connecting with students and offering lunches to anyone needing help getting one. Lunch periods are about 40 minutes long (this includes recess). If you send a packed lunch from home, it is helpful to include only items that students can open without assistance.

School Site Council Nominees Wanted

Several parents have expressed an interest in serving on the Pepper Drive School Site Council (SSC) for the 2022–2023 school year. School Site Council consists of the principal, parents, and staff members who work together to discuss school issues, make decisions regarding the school budget, and monitor implementation of the academic program as presented in the Single Plan for Student Achievement. There are 3 Vacant Positions for parents on the council for this year. If you would like to nominate yourself (or a friend or loved one), please send an email to our school Principal. She can share more information about typical meeting dates, times, etc. Summer.Bradbury@santeesd.net
