News & Notes for East Middle faculty and staff
We are all better for having you as part of our journey, Mike.
This week, we will say goodbye (for now), to leader, Mike Hale. While we all wish we could say "no" to his departure, we know his new school will be blessed by his leadership, vision, and friendship. On August 3, we will have the opportunity to wish him well in person.
All week long...
If there is anything at all in your rooms that needs attention, send an email to John and cc me
Standards Based Grading Day w/West Middle & Dr. Tom Guskey (Aug. 2)
- together at Blair Center 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Please be on time
- Look for table tents- you will sit with your content area colleagues
- Dress is casual, though not yardwork/clean your house/wash your car casual
- Bring your laptops, notebooks, grading resources, and your presence - we are so lucky to have Dr. Guskey working with us. Come ready to absorb all you can!
- Thank you, Ms. Stivers, for making this experience possible.
East Middle Day Together (Aug.3)
- still working on agenda adjustments and will forward to all when finished; besides the obvious (first week, schedules, calendar) now is the time to let me know what is pressing for us all to dialogue around. Send me an email if you desire input.
- 8a.m. - 3 p.m. I'll provide light breakfast; lunch on your own (about 1hr 15 min.)
Back to School BASH! Things to consider: (Aug 3)
- be a dunking booth volunteer (I will and am not above calling you "chicken")
- we will have pizza delivered for those staying through after our day together. Feel free to add to the pizza if you want to bring a side to share (salad, veggies, fruit, dessert)
- related arts teachers will man the photo booth: 2 at a time; one teacher gives reminders to students about behaving appropriately in pics while one teacher checks the pic before it is given to students
- teachers welcome in the photo booth! Have fun! I want to create a bulletin board with the pics. Get your teams together, grab a rubber chicken and a goofy hat - CLICK!
- 6th Grade, please have rooms as ready as can be because our families will begin in rooms on BASH night
Just sharing
- because I love what this says about our belief in educating the whole child
- because this thinking around homework is innovative and encourages students to practice mindfulness
- because I want you to know I would support 100% any team wanting to give this (or a version of it) a go
Cox schedule for the week
Monday- "touch base" conferences w/teachers all day. I usually love stop ins, but avoid them today so I can focus completely on those who are with me. Thanks!
Tuesday- at Blair with you
Wednesday- at EMS with you; BASH in the evening
Thursday- AP candidate interviews at EMS
Friday- at EMS in the a.m.; Jacob has a Dr. appt. in the p.m.
