The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I'm not sure that it is the most wonderful time of the year, but it is certainly one of my favorites. This past weekend we had a wonderful few days off to enjoy time with family and friends. In just a few short weeks we will be fortunate to have even more time to spend with those we care about most. Before we get there though we have loads of opportunities to not only engage students in learning, but also in creating memorable work and events.

In just a couple of weeks, our ASB will be hosting our second ever Paint the Tiles fundraiser. It was a big hit with everyone involved a couple of years ago and we anticipate it to be great again this time around. Kids and adults alike enjoyed the unique opportunity to create some great art while making a special memory. Masks, social distancing, and other protocols will be followed. Only 32 tiles are up for sale and must be purchased in advance. See the red flyer that was sent home for more details or check it out on our website.

There is loads more information below and I encourage you to take time to read through so you are up to date and in the know with everything going on here at Hedden.

Until my next newsletter, I wish you a wonderful month of December, a very merry winter break, and a Happy New Year!

+_+ Student Water Bottles +_+

We want to encourage students to bring their own reusable water bottles each day to school. Due to COVID protocols, our drinking fountains are not readily available for student use throughout the day. Teachers have have their classroom expectations for where students can keep their water bottles throughout the day and when students can access them.

Planning to be absent for a few days or more?

If you plan to have your student miss school for three or more days, please communicate with our office and the teacher in advance. You can obtain the form below from Ms. Martin in the main office. Thank you for partnering with us to support students success here at Hedden.

Big picture
It's funny how just when our students really need their warm jackets and coats, our Lost and Found starts to fill up with those items. If your student is missing something, encourage them to stop by the cart at recess. Please continue to encourage students to be prepared for our cold, wet, and blustery weather as we like to get out for recess as often as possible.

Emergency School Closures

Please check the district website for emergency schedules. The website will have the most

updated information regarding school schedule changes due to adverse weather conditions and other emergency situations. You can help us by not calling school unless you have an emergency. The phone lines can become bogged down with so many calls. The District changes the website frequently and it is the most efficient way to get important information out. Fife School District website: www.fifeschools.com.

You will receive an automated call early in the morning if school is delayed or cancelled. Make sure the school has your current phone number!

In addition, school closure or delay start information will be on the local TV news and radio stations.
