Curriculum Nights
MS Curriculum Night: Thursday, September 20th
High School Curriculum Night- Tuesday, September 25th
We’ll start each evening at 5:45 pm with a parent meeting in the cafeteria. You’ll pick up a copy of your child’s schedule and then school staff will share school information, followed by a presentation from the BP PTSA and Bellevue Schools Foundation. At 6:35 pm, you’ll head off to your child’s advisory where you’ll meet the other families in the advisory, a PTSA parent rep and your child’s advisor. This period is longer than the others because advisors will share grade level information that is consistent across all teachers for that grade. Our hope is to minimize any redundancy in the classroom presentations later in the evening and to give teachers more time to share curriculum work with you. PTSA will conduct their yearly fundraiser, Pass the Hat, during this advisory time. If you are interested in donating, it may be helpful to bring a checkbook with you. After advisory finishes, you’ll move throughout the rest of your child's schedule in ten minute class periods. The last period wraps up at 8:40 pm.
We are often asked if students should come with parents to Curriculum Night. If your child desires to come with you, they need to remain with you throughout the evening attending the classroom presentations. This evening is not a social event for the kids as we do not have the capacity to supervise students who are not in the classrooms with their parents. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
If you have a middle school student who is taking a high school class, high school teachers will only be present at the high school curriculum night. You are welcome to come to both nights if you'd like an opportunity to meet all of your child's teachers or feel free to reach out to the teachers you missed and they'll provide a copy of their presentation.
Healthy Youth Survey
Families of 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade Students Only:
In mid-October, middle and high schools will be administering the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey to all students in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12. Students from across the state participate in this voluntary survey every two years. Questions focus on risk for injury, health outcomes, and alcohol and drug use. For more information, please see the flyer sent home with students this week or check out the attachments. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions.

How to Report a Safety Concern
Bullying and safety concerns can always be reported to any staff member at your school. Reporting forms are located in the main office. The Bellevue School District also utilizes an anonymous reporting tool called SafeSchools Alert through which anyone can make a verbal or written report of harassment, intimidation or bullying. Information on how to submit a report via any of these methods is available on the district website at www.bsd405.org/help/report.
Before and After School Drop-off/Pick-up
Before School: As a reminder, our campus opens at 7:45 AM with supervision in the cafeteria for students arriving to campus prior to 1st period. Students are not to arrive prior to 7:45 AM as there is not supervision on campus at that time.
Afterschool Pick-up: As a reminder, students are to be picked up or on their way home immediately after school if they are not working in tutorial. This is very helpful to ensure student safety and that staff can leave on-time after their scheduled activities.
Drop Off/Pick-up:
- Please remember to drive slowly and safely through our parking lot.
- Students are not to be dropped off in the driveway, the back of the parking lot or in the through lane. Please have students enter and exit your vehicle at the drop-off zone or park and safely walk to campus.
- If your child is not out front waiting for you when you get to the drop-off/pick-up zone, please continue through the lot and park or circle around again. Waiting in the lanes causes a serious back-up problem and congestion for folks who are behind parked cars and in need of exiting.
- If you pull out to the through-lane, please drive slowly. We have noticed several cars accelerating in this lane and would like to maintain a very safe drop-off zone.
- In addition, we do have students who require the use of the handicapped parking stalls adjacent to the drop-off zone. It is very important that these spaces are available for those who possess a handicapped placard and need them to exit/enter their vehicles and that vehicles who will be using these enter up through the drop off zone and then pull into the spaces. If you are coming through the drop-off line and notice a vehicle parked in these spaces, please wait and carefully move behind them and continue out the parking lot. We recognize that those spaces and the drop-off zone are not ideally located.
- Please do not make a left hand turn from our driveway onto SE 22nd Street during peak drop-off and pick-up times. This causes a significant back-up in the rest of the lot.
- Students riding bikes will use the sidewalk and need to cross the driveway to get to the crosswalk for SE 22nd St. Please give them a safe right of way to cross the driveway at the entrance to our school. Students riding bikes should not cross the driveway at other locations nor ride on the lawn.
- Your help, patience, and respectful driving behavior are most appreciated. We recognize that folks are usually in a hurry to get to where they need to go and by working together, we can create a safe, efficient, and stress-free environment.
