Last Full Week Before Exams Begin

Congrats on making it to the conclusion of the fall semester and the start of Christmas Break. Thank you for allowing MHS to educate your student(s). Remember, that students do not report back until January 5th, January 4th is for teachers. Enjoy your time away and have a safe and happy break. We are excited about what the spring semester holds for the Lion Nation.

Did you Know

Charles Braswell, Class of 1943, ended up on Broadway, in movies and television. He appeared with Lucille Ball in “Wild Cat” the summer he graduated and with Angela Lansbury in “Mame.” He sings the lead in the original cast recording of “Mame.” You can listen to the recording at He died of melanoma at age 49 in New York in 1974. The long-running show will celebrate its 50th anniversary in May.

12/15 Tuesday

  • First Period 7:30-9:25

12/16 Wednesday (Early Release at 11:30)

Front Office Closed

Our front office will be closed on Thursday, December 17th from 12:00 to 1:30 so the staff may enjoy a holiday luncheon provided by our PTO.

Safety and Security

  • Parents, as a reminder, please be ready to show your ID when entering the building (even for those we recognize).
  • We will only release your child to who is listed in eSchool & Hall Pass, this includes having lunch with your child.

MISD Parent Groups

Dear MISD Parent Groups,

McKinney’s Project Graduation is a non-profit group lead by volunteers whose only goal is to provide all McKinney graduating seniors a safe, alcohol- and drug-free event to celebrate graduation night. This will be our 13th year to help keep our young people and community safe.

We are asking for a representative from each MISD parent group to join us at MHS on Thursday, January 7, at 6:30pm for a Project Graduation presentation explaining what we do and how you can become part of this life-saving annual event.

We hope to see you there and thank you for all that you do for our students.

McKinney’s Project Graduation

Are you interested in learning more about STAAR/EOC exams?

MISD will be hosting a parent informational meeting about the STAAR/EOC exam. Leighann Johnson, our district testing coordinator, will be presenting useful information on the state assessments. The meeting will be held in the Faubion Middle School Auditorium from

5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

McKinney Education Foundation Information (MEF)

MEF Scholarship

The MEF Scholarship will open on January 5th. The application is open to all MISD Seniors and can be found on MEF’s website ( The deadline to have all materials turned in is February 12th at 4:00pm. It is highly recommended that ALL seniors apply for to this scholarship. If you or your student have any questions, please sign up for an appointment with Ms. Ribble here:

Financial Aid 101

MEF is hosting a Financial Aid 101 presentation on January 11th at 6:30pm in McKinney North’s Cafeteria. This presentation will cover the MEF Scholarship, FAFSA, TASFA and other important financial aid information. This presentation is open to all MISD seniors and their parents.

Tutoring for the week of 12/14

There will be no tutoring bus running the week of December 14th.
