Message from the Principal
Hornet Nation,
We are nearing the end of the first marking period on Friday, October 29. Please keep up the good work, get your missing assignments completed, and finish out this marking period as best as you can. Students should look to take advantage of the one lunch hour to meet with teachers about their grades and/or missing assignments. Don't wait until the last second!
We will be testing again this Tuesday, check out the information below. Let's have a great week and remember.....

Upcoming Events
State Testing Tuesday, October 19
All current 9th graders and students who were enrolled in Biology last school year will be taking the Science 8 or MISA assessment Tuesday morning (8:00-9:50). Students will be testing on the lower level of the building. Non Testing underclassmen will be upstairs in rooms and 12th graders will be in the Auditorium.
Lists will be posted in the usual locations but check with your teacher ahead of time for the exact location. Again, students must bring their SMCPS laptop for testing and make sure they have been shut down/charged. We will be operating on a 2 hour testing schedule for the last time on Tuesday with 1st period starting @ 10 am after testing finishes.
Picture Re-Takes/Make up day
Retakes for underclassmen portraits will take place on Friday, October 22nd in the auditorium. Students needing their portrait retaken should report to the auditorium during their English classes.
The final senior portrait retake sessions will be held on October 25th, 26th, and 27th from 3pm until 9pm in the lower level of the cafeteria. Students must schedule their sitting times in order to secure an appointment. The link to schedule can be found on the Great Mills website.

AP Exam Payment Reminder
All AP Exam Registrations and Payments/$40 down payments are due by November 1, 2021. Avoid the $40 late fee, on top of each exam cost, by meeting this important deadline.

Even though lunch will be provided free to students this year, parents should still complete the meal benefits application as there may be other benefits/assistance available to students who qualify for free or reduced meals.

According to the county, “results from the survey will provide ways to document shared goals and objectives and maintain and enhance the quality of life in St. Mary’s County for years to come.”
