Titan Staff News
Week of April 13
Titans,
This week we had the opportunity to honor the largest class of National Junior Honor Society inductees - in fact almost double our typical numbers! This is the time of year where STAAR looms closely in your minds. I ask you to remember that STAAR is only one measure of how our students are performing. The NJHS application does not ask for a student's STAAR score. Future ready indicators are not tied to STAAR. I ask that you keep this perspective as we continue through spring. We have the unique opportunity to shape a student's future, not their tests.
I challenge you this week to consider the following: What is your philosophy on how students learn? Teacher prep courses focus on shaping a philosophy of teaching. However, the school's function is for students to learn. Truth be told - it's not about your teaching, it's about the students learning. What do we do at Tidwell that focuses on ensuring our students learn?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Kim
