St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 7 | 3 SEPTEMBER 2020
Heavenly Father,
you entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary,
to the care of Joseph, an earthly father.
Bless all fathers as they care for their families.
Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience;
support them in the work they have to do,
protecting those who look to them,
as we look to you for love and salvation,
through Jesus Christ our rock and defender.
Amen.
Message form the Principal
On Sunday we celebrate Fathers' Day and in doing so we give thanks for all the fathers and those who take on the role of fathers in our lives. Fathers' Day is a time to celebrate fathers and the many sacrifices they make for their children and families, in ways both big and small. We also remember all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or are absent; grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers and coaches.
Well done to the Year 5 and 6 students who participated in the Winter Sports Lightning Carnival. Despite the rain, they played well and had fun.
Parents are reminded not to send sick children to school. If your child shows symptoms of being unwell, we will need to contact you to collect them.
Please also remember classrooms open at 8.30 am and children should not be dropped at school any earlier. Camp Australia provides before school care should you require earlier supervision.
God Bless and stay safe.

Life in Year 5
There are many facets to life in Year 5: for assembly we shared our knowledge about space travel and a new planet; we enjoy sport, music and art; and we care for the environment by doing our composting jobs. We value our friends and enjoy being together.
Inter School Winter Lightning Carnival
This week our Year 5 and 6 students attended the CAPSS Inter School Lightning Carnival. This was our first Carnival with the new Inter School Association (Hammond Park, St Benedicts, Orana, Yidarra and John Bosco Catholic Primary Schools). The students played in either League Tag, Volleyball or Netball. All teams competed at an exceptional level displaying wonderful enthusiasm and team spirit. At the end of the carnival St Columba's A teams all placed within the top 3. The League Tag team finished 2nd, Volleyball team 3rd, Netball team 2nd. The schools' other teams also participated well and improved throughout the carnival. We are proud of our students' efforts, displaying their abilities over various types of sports and being excellent representatives of their school. Well done!

P&F Teacher's Wish List for 2020
The children in Year 2W love to spend their time making and creating. With the generosity of the P&F we were able to purchase Mobilo, Wooden Blocks, Flexisticks and Magnetic Tiles. These fabulous items have brought so much joy to the children's day. From all the children in Year 2W we would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the P&F.
Notify office of emergency changes to pickup on the day
Where possible, parents are asked to confirm the pick up arrangements with their children before drop off in the morning.
When an emergency occurs and parents need to change these arrangements, please email admin@stcolumbassp.wa.edu.au with the new arrangements. Teachers do not have access to their emails during the day and an email directed to them is often not seen until after the children are dismissed.
