This Week at Utsalady
Dear Utsalady Families and Students,
I hope you had a special Memorial Day. Thank you to all of the veterans out there and to those of you with servicemen and servicewomen in your family. It is a special kind of sacrifice to live apart from your family while they are serving our country. Thank you for your sacrifice as well as theirs.
As we close out the month of May I am grateful for the work all of you are doing to support your children with remote learning. Our teachers are creating a variety of activities that keep students engaged for the next few weeks. You may see more choice boards, STEM activities, building activities, and exploration encouraged. We work to find a balance between online lessons and open-ended activities.
Remember if your child is struggling with a task or lesson for a considerable amount of time, or you need more/less content, please reach out to your child's teacher. It isn't too late to get a chromebook or hotspot and get online. If you need anything please email us at uesinfo@stanwood.wednet.edu
Thank you again and have a great week!

The Counselor's Corner - A Note from Mrs. Mati
Dear Utsalady Families,
Wow, it’s hard to believe that it is almost June! Before long summer will be here. As we head into June and summer, I want you all to know that I miss seeing everyone at school and hope you are all doing well, working hard, and having fun, too! For June, the elementary school counselors in our district have put together some more activities for you on Clever. Included will be a short book list for summer reading and videos of books being read aloud. You will not even need to have the book on hand to hear the story! Like last month, you can find these June resources on Clever in the “Social and Emotional” folder located where your grade level packets are posted. They will be posted online next week. Again, the activities we share are 100% optional and meant to be fun and helpful. No need to stress over anything that we share and please reach out if you do have any questions.
Take care,
Mrs. Mati
P.S.Here is a fun scavenger hunt activity for you to do at home. Keep up the good work learning and practicing how to express your feelings!
Grading K-5
Students in grades K–5 are being asked to demonstrate effort and success in learning standards through remote learning. Unless an agreement has been reached between parent/guardian and school staff, students will be promoted to the next grade level. Elementary progress reports will reflect concepts introduced and practiced through remote learning. Standards introduced through remote learning will be noted as “introduced but not assessed” on the progress report.
Grab and Go Meals
Grab and Go meals are available to ALL children ages 18 and under, free of charge, regardless of income, whether your child is enrolled in school or if they attend Stanwood Camano Schools. We encourage families to take advantage of this program, please help spread the word.
Reminder: Now on Fridays, we offer weekend grab and go meals in addition to our regular meal distribution, children will receive bags that contain 3 lunches and 3 breakfasts.
For a list of locations, please see the district website.
5th Graders and Middle School Registration
