Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Dear Parents,
From Technology:
We have been working since August on a transition away from Renweb to a more robust comprehensive school system that we believe will pull many of our current components (lunch, library, schedules, day-to-day activities, etc.) all into one place. We want you to anticipate the change and be watching from more information on setting up your accounts and accessing information. We still have a bit more set-up so watch for updates. We will provide written information, videos, and in-person meetings to help with your transition process.
I want to remind parents of rising 9th - 12th-grade students that your student is expected to have a laptop or Chromebook for the coming school year. Students should bring these devices (charged) daily to school. If you have questions about the device requirements please see the Parent BYOD Letter.
I also want to remind all parents, K4 - 12th grade, that your students have access to a powerful suite of products from TextHelp. The school has purchased this suite of tools because we feel that they can provide valuable study tools to our students.
You can always find information about technology at the school technology page which can be accessed from the menu on the right-hand side of the school website under the Parent and Student category.
Athletic Calendar News:
Varsity Boys Basketball team has earned the privilege of hosting the AREA tournament! Come cheer them on as they play for the AREA Championship against Lauderdale County High School this Friday, Feb. 8, at 7:00pm
Admissions for tournament sessions cost $6. Since this is an AHSAA event WCA passes will not be used for admission.
Middle School Grandparent Chapel - February 14th
Last week, seniors and juniors from the chapel team went to the lower campus to lead their chapel service. Members Joy Mullins and Andrea Lindsay led interactive songs and Macy Kate Toon and Jansyn Gordon gave a message to the elementary students. In chapel at the upper school, we had another split chapel. Taylor Thompson gave the middle school a captivating message and Vinnie Athey, the UAH campus minister, continued the 10 Commandment series as he focused on adultery. He related this message to the high school by focusing on lust and sexual purity. We are excited to hear from Pastor Steele as he continues the 10 Commandment series in a combined chapel today.
Donations Needed - The Butterfly Project
The WCA Student Council is sponsoring a drive next week to support The Butterfly Project, a program sponsored by The Huntsville Junior League.
The Butterfly Project helps to provide the entire prom experience for deserving young women of Huntsville City Schools and Madison County Schools. School counselors choose the girls, the Huntsville Junior League helps them pick out their outfits.
We are asking you to donate shoes, jewelry, and prom dresses to help these girls out. All size shoes and dresses are needed.
Any shoes, jewelry and dresses not distributed for prom season will be used for military wives in the fall for the local military ball.
We will take donations in the main lobby of the Upper School next week from Monday, February 11th, through Thursday, February 14th. Please help us make this drive a success!
Thank you,
Claire Mize, Student Council President
Clinic News:
I just wanted to reassure you that while we do have illness at the Upper School, our daily absentee rate is still hanging in there at 4%. Please continue to email me at sarah.hendrix@wca-hsv.org if your student is absent due to an illness. This is very helpful, thank you! I have included some helpful information that was shared with our Lower School parents this week regarding the Flu virus.
The following is from the CDC website and is the same as what most physicians in our area are telling our families:
Flu Symptoms:
Flu can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Flu is different from a cold. Flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
- fever*
- cough
- sore throat
- runny or stuffy nose
- body aches
- headache
- chills
- fatigue
- sometimes diarrhea and vomiting
*It’s important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever.
When Flu Spreads:
People with flu are most contagious in the first three to four days after their illness begins. Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick. Children and some people with weakened immune systems may pass the virus for longer than 7 days.
Symptoms can begin about 2 days (but can range from 1 to 4 days) after the virus enters the body. That means that you may be able to pass on the flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. Some people can be infected with the flu virus but have no symptoms. During this time, those people may still spread the virus to others.
Congratulations to our Wildcats!
Our Art 2 and Art 3 students have hung a new mural at the Upper Campus. It looks good guys and thank you for sharing!
