The Panther Pride
October 4, 2021
Hello Panther Community!
It's hard to believe that we are coming to the end of our 1st Quarter! In middle school, grades will reset at the quarter which means that any assignments from this quarter can not be turned in for credit after Friday. If your student has missing assignments that are now completed and you would like them considered for credit, please connect with individual teachers as they have policies for accepting late assignments. All teachers are available via loopmail.
Are you looking for ways to support your student in the middle? Join us for our 1st Panther Parent Workshop this Wednesday, October 6th for Tech Boot Camp and Thursday, October 7th for Math Boot Camp. Both workshops begin at 6:00 PM in the VPMS Library and will also be simulcast via Zoom. See the flyer below for more information!
Sports are back! Last week was our first full competition for fall sports and it was so good to see students playing, our community cheering, and regain a sense of middle school normalcy. As a reminder, the CDPH has instituted a mask requirement for all spectators over the age of two years old for indoor competition. If you plan to come and support our volleyball teams, please make sure that you follow the guidelines. We want to do everything possible to allow our students to continue to play the games they love!
Due to current COVID protocols, our Halloween dance will not take place. Instead, our Leadership class is putting together a Halloween Trail on Wednesday, October 27th. Tickets for students will be $5.00. For students who have purchased the ASB package, the Halloween Trail ticket will replace the dance ticket. If you would like to donate bags of Halloween candy, we would appreciate it! You can drop off unopened bags of candy at the front office.
Lastly, our school nurses want you to be aware that many students are skipping meals. This is a very unsafe practice and the heat often complicates the situation. Please see the message below from Danyell Weller, Heath Care Specialist and Maria Blois, School Nurse on the importance of student nutrition.
Together, let’s make the MIDDLE matter,
Colleen Moe
Principal
